The third is superfluous or "So, the war". The actors of the comic thriller about male friendship

Comedy thriller "Means War" in many ways remains a typical Hollywood product. A good selection of actors, a worthwhile script, fights, chases and beating over jokes. Let's analyze what good this film is and who plays the main roles in it.

Third wheel

The idea of the original project belongs to Marcus Gotessen. Based on his novel, the screenwriters "Mister and Mrs. Smith" and "Pretend my wife" - Simon Kinberg and Timothy Dowling - combined action-scenes with the theme of a love triangle, presenting the public with a new creation with a laconic title "Means war."

The plot of the picture tells about two special agents Franklin and Dake, best friends, always ready to help. At the same time, they get to know the girl Lauren, who can not choose whom she should stay with. Themselves, the guys decide not to interfere with each other, but let it decide for themselves. In the end, each of them does not want to give in to his girlfriend ...

Unsurprisingly, the decision of the studio to put in the chair of the director McGzhi seemed to be: in his arsenal of different genre projects and music videos. The play tape "So, the war", with a decent budget of 65 million dollars, promised to collect an impressive cash register.

To help in this were called the performers of the main roles. Actors of the movie "Means, War" at the time of filming were widely known to the public. Bright, young, talented, they made up a wonderful creative union. Rather, the trio: Chris Pine, Tom Hardy and Reese Witherspoon.

For participation in the film Chris Pine received a fee of 5 million, Reese's fee was 4 times more, but for how much Tom agreed to take part in the shooting, it remains unknown.

Components of success

Nevertheless, such figures, not the most impressive for Hollywood, are fully justified. "Hence, the war," whose actors excellently coped with the images of friends-rivals, combined the dynamic plot with magnificent jokes, not allowing the viewer to get bored. And the creators of the film managed to raise an important aspect of true male friendship: how far will the war go? What will the best comrades in the end prefer - a strong shoulder or a seductive beauty?

According to the audience, such films are intended for an unpretentious young audience, preferably in the form of female representatives. This is fully present in the movie "So, the war." Actors in many ways focus their attention on themselves. In the background, there is an uncomplicated plot and a good ending in any scenario.

"So, the war": actors and roles

In the film, a good cast of actors is presented, as well as a variety of secondary characters, along with the main characters-handsome. So, Franklin and Duck are trying to stop in Hong Kong, a dangerous terrorist, whom the charismatic German Til Schweiger embodied on the screen. The mission ends in failure, for which agents-losers fall from the boss Collins, performed by Angela Bassett. Abigail Spencer played Dake Katie's ex-wife, and Chelsea Handler became Lauren's best friend and, in combination, trash-talker Trisha (by the way, actresses are friends in real life).

About the main characters played by Chris Pine and Tom Hardy, you can confidently say that they are interesting characters. For example, to make an impression on the girl when acquainted, both friends resort to lies, completely not feeling guilty. The love triangle engenders a rivalry in them, but when it comes to threatening the life of another, everyone is ready to help. The film has several alternative endings. In the first Laura chooses one of the comrades, in the second - Duck and Franklin stay together, implying that the male friendship was more expensive.

"So, the war": actors you did not know about

Before starting to shoot the film, the creators staged a big casting, selecting the performers of the main roles. The picture promised to become successful in all senses. The most popular young stars of Hollywood dreamed of getting into the ranks of applicants for a role in the movie "So, the war." Actors Sam Worthington, Justin Timberlake and Colin Farrell could become screen Franklin and Duck, but the producers settled on Chris Peine and Tom Hardy.

It is noteworthy that both actors in their time played in the franchise "Star Trek". Tom Hardy in 2002 appeared in the image of the antagonist Reman Shinzon in "Retribution", and Chris Pine played James Tiberius Kirk in "Star Trek" in 2009 (directed by JJ Abrams).

Friends in the cinema, rivals in life

Of course, rivals Chris Pine and Tom Hardy can be called relatively. This is due to the status of Hollywood sex symbols, because, by and large, they have nothing to share: everyone has their own success and a sea of fans, or rather, fans. The actors of the movie "Means War" of almost the same age, both starred in more than 150 scenes. A significant part of their work is designed for a teenage audience.

For the first time, Tom Hardy appeared in a small role in the 2001 military drama Black Hawk. The greatest popularity brought him such pictures as "Prohibited Reception", "Rock-n-Roller", "Beginning". In 2013, came out the tape "The Dark Knight: Revival of the Legend" and "The Drunkenest District in the World". Among the latest works of Tom - a crime drama "Obshchak."

Unlike a colleague, Chris Pine began an acting career with participation in many TV shows. And then he focused mainly on youth comedies: "Princess Diaries 2: How to become a queen," "A blind date," "A kiss for good luck." The first serious work was the Jonathan Meyers thriller "Recognition". In the last few years Pine's career has gone uphill, he has played in a number of successful films: "Unmanaged," "People Like Us", "Jack Ryan: Theory of Chaos," "The Imperfect Bosses 2". The actor proved that he is able to play in any genre.

Reese Witherspoon, who performed the main female role (a girl caught between two guys), began her career in 1991. The first success came with youth thrillers "Fear", "Highway" and "Cruel Games", on the set of which she met with her future husband Ryan Philippe. In 2001, the film "The Blonde in the Law", about the glamorous advocate, won the spectators' hearts, as well as the ensuing sequel, which brought the actress a 15-million-dollar fee. After showered no less successful paintings with Reese: "Between Heaven and Earth", "Vanity Fair" and "Cross the Line" (for this film she received an "Oscar"). In 2014, Witherspoon starred in the biographical drama "Wild." The actress also very often acts as a producer of the pictures in which she is removed.

These wonderful Hollywood celestials were united by the comedy "Means, war". The actors (photo to that confirmation) made up a bright memorable tandem, and despite the love triangle in the plot, they are quite friendly in life: when they meet at secular events they are ready to positively delight their fans and all fans of the film.
