Apples are a relatively cheap, healthy and delicious product. It was this fruit that seduced Eve Adam, and it was more than tempting to be tempted. You can talk a lot about the benefits and dignity of these fruits. But not everyone knows that their wonderful properties of apples in fresh form lose quite quickly. Treating them thermally, useful properties can be saved for significantly longer. Drying apples at home is an excellent solution to this problem. For this purpose, choose fleshy and juicy apples of late varieties, which have more useful substances.

Methods of drying and preparing apples

There are few options, only three: drying in the sun, in the oven, using special drying combines. It is not so important which way you choose, the preparation of apples is the same. Fruits are not broken, not wormy and ripe. Cutting apples for drying is not difficult. From them, carefully remove the core and cut into thin slices (thinner than 1 cm). To keep the apples light, they are dipped in slightly salted water for several minutes. On the taste, this will not be reflected, but the color will be preserved.

The oldest method used before, and now our grandmothers often turn to him, this is the drying of apples in the sun (recalls drying). Layed on flat surfaces chopped slices are exposed in the sun. And the natural evaporation of moisture from fruits begins. Drying must be covered with gauze to prevent dust from getting on to them, and insects do not sit down. Drying apples at home in the sun is a troublesome process. To prevent the appearance of rot on apples, it is important that several days in a row are sunny. A little easier and faster in this regard, drying apples at home in the oven. The temperature in the oven must be maintained at the first stage of about 45 degrees, while the door should be slightly ajar. Then the temperature is raised to 70 degrees (sterilization process). Dry the apples at the same temperature (45 degrees). In this case, you need to carefully monitor that the drying is not dry and not burnt. From time to time, the fruits are mixed.

Drying apples at home is also carried out in special electrical appliances. Such combines are equipped with heating elements and a fan, due to which the fruit is dried. Apple lobes are laid out on special trays. To evenly dry fruits, the trays must be swapped. The main advantage of such devices is speed. Apple drying can be obtained in just a few hours, and the taste is preserved the same way.

Drying of apples is stored in dry jars tightly closed with a polyethylene lid in a dark place. Some housewives use specially sacked bags for this purpose.

Cooked apple drying in the fall will be a wonderful treat on cold winter evenings, will not only allow you to enjoy the taste of apples, but also help to combat seasonal vitamin deficiency.
