How can you rank "The strongest people in the world"? It is quite logical to begin a search among athletes engaged in weightlifting. And, of course, those who participate in the competition "Strongest Men". This article will list the most powerful people on the planet, whose photos often flash in sports magazines. So, let's get started.

1. Vasily Alekseev

The first place in the rating "The strongest people" goes to the Soviet weightlifter, multiple world champion and Olympic Games Vasily Alekseev. He was born in 1942 in the Ryazan region (the village of Pokrovo-Shishkino). At the age of 11 the boy moved with his family to the settlement of Rochegda (Arkhangelsk region). He began to play sports in his youth, but met with the first coach only in 19 years. For all his life, Vasily Ivanovich has set many world records. Among them: the biathlon - 435 kg; Bench in the heavyweight - 237 kg; Push - 257 kg. And this is only a small part of all the achievements of this great athlete. On the shooting of the show "Big Race" in Barcelona, Vasily Ivanovich started having heart problems. He was taken to a German clinic where he died two weeks later.

2. Zhidrunas Savickas

This talented athlete was born in 1975 in the Lithuanian city of Biržai. Being still quite a kid, he markedly outperformed his peers in height and weight. At the age of 14, the boy saw strongman competitions and wanted to lift weights in the same way as they did. A year later, Savickas took part in triathlon, and at the second in his life, the competition set a Lithuanian record. In 1998, he won the international competition "Strongest Men", and in 2000 he won a silver medal at the Japan Triathlon Championship. In 2001, Savickas injured his knees. But this did not stop him. In the following years, he won many serious competitions. By the way, Zhidrunas won the last "Strongest Mene", which was held this year in Vladivostok.

At these competitions our compatriots also pleased their fans. Alexander Lysenko took the fifth place. For this he can be given the unofficial title "The Most Strong Man in Russia in 2013".

Let's return to Zhidrunas. Savickas can be proud of himself. Here are just some of its records: bench press - 286 kg; Throwing the ball (27 kg) upwards - 5,2 m; Traction - 462 kg. So he rightfully takes the second place in the ranking "The strongest people".

3. Vasily Virastyuk

Who has not heard about this legendary Ukrainian athlete? For his services in power all-around he takes the third place in the rating "The strongest people". The future master of sports was born in Ivano-Frankivsk in 1974. The boy grew up in an ordinary family. His father worked as a trucker. Even at school, Virastyuk was attracted to athletics. Then he moved to the shot put. After school, Vasily entered the technical school at the physical education department. Then 2 years spent in the army. Since 1994 he worked as a coach in a sports club. In 2000, Virastyuk decided to try his hand at Strongest Mene, where he subsequently won twice (2004, 2007). Let's talk about several of its records. Some of them were included in the Guinness Book of Records. For example, Vasily moved the tram cars with a total weight of 100 tons, rolled out 7 cars (11 tons) for 25 meters, lifted and installed four 150-kilogram ice cubes on the platform in just 1 minute.
