Perhaps it is difficult to outdo all favorite foreign sagas about vampires and other representatives of the supernatural, and most importantly, to surprise the already spoiled public. However, Ukrainian cinematographers decided to quit this challenge, creating an incredible domestic TV series "The Darkness Diaries"? Or "Puppies of the Dark." Did they succeed in implementing their plans? And how complicated was the shooting process?

A few words about the creators and premiere of the series

A mystical television series of Ukrainian production was created in 2011 with the active assistance of the well-known film studio "1 + 1 Production" and the TV channel "TET". The idea of telesagia belongs to the perspective director Victoria Lezine-Maslenitsa, who in 2013 became the general producer of the above-mentioned film studio.

The premiere of the mystical series, in which Arthur Dvoryanov (actor from the Kyiv municipal theater) was invited to one of the roles, was held in August 2011.

More about the city of Dark

Events in the series unfold around a small provincial town with a mystical name Dark, located in the middle of dense forests. This is an incredible place, hidden from ordinary people. It's hard to find, but if you get into it, it's almost impossible to get out of it.

As is usually the case in such TV projects, the city was built at the intersection of several invisible lines, representing a conglomeration of incredible supernatural energy. It is here, where various events take place, which have a non-standard and subtext beyond the limits of human understanding, that young actors get into. "The Dark Diaries", like "Twin Peaks", "Haven", "Silent Hill" and others, has become one of the few serials where all the action is tied in the same city.

What is the series?

The series recalls a kind of cycle of virtually unrelated fantastic stories. In this case, each series describes its finale of a mystical story, which is close in meaning to a detective or thriller.

The characters of the stories are residents of the city of the Dark, who from time to time have to fight with witches and sorcerers, mermaids, werewolves, vampires and other dishonest people. It is noteworthy that the characters, as well as the actors themselves ("The Dark Diaries" - a series that resembles a confused mixture of "Are you afraid of the dark", "Twilight" and "Supernatural"), often change. Therefore almost in each series there are new faces and heroes, absolutely having nothing in common with each other.

Subtlety of plot twists and turns

As such, there is no single story line in the series. However, there is still a single character - a journalist who, in fact, writes down all these fantastic tales in his diary. In the rest - the series tells about different heroes, in this or that time period living in the city of Dark.

Examples of the plot of some series

For example, in one of the series of the television series, in which the young artist Bogdan Yusipchuk was filming, it is a nice and fearless Sergei who hunts vampires. At one point he falls in love with a beautiful girl named Alina, but she turns out to be ghoul in female guise. Experiencing a confused feeling of passion and love, he faces a difficult choice: to kill the object of adoration or to leave alive.

Another series talks about a student of Mary, who fell head over heels in love with her teacher. Running without suffering from his inattention, she decides on a love spell. For this, the girl turns to a professional witch. But the young student does not even suspect what she will have to pay for this unusual request.

In the third series of the television series, where the actor Sergei Shlyakhtyuk appears from time to time, the girl Svetlana is told about. She suffers from a personal emotional drama and by chance falls into the Dark.

Here the girl finds a fortuneteller, who, according to her assumption, must predict the future fate of the heroine. However, the prophetess is one of the brightest representatives of the other world, so the fate of the girl is radically changed. "But this is only the beginning of a series of unexplained supernatural events," the actors share their opinions. "The Diaries of the Dark," they said, is a beautiful and long-playing project with a good script. Unexpected and its plot twists and turns.

Actors ("The Darkness Diaries"): known and not

In the series were involved actors with a variety of abilities, roles and cinematic experience. For example, in the "Diaries of the Dark" you can meet a young actress Natalia Denisenko, who already has a certain creative biography. So, the twenty-six-year-old actress earlier could be seen in the following films and series:

In the television series appeared earlier mentioned twenty-four-year-old actor Arthur Dvorianov. During his short career, the young man starred in such films as "Indian Summer", "My Mom" and "Dreams of Plasticine."

Sergei Shlyakhtuk has a longer track record, because he has already managed to prove himself not only as an actor, but also as a director. He starred in two seasons of the series "Brother for Brother", played a policeman in "Lombard", was a skinhead in "Lonely Hearts", fighter Strelnikov in "Trap" and participated in many other films.

Bogdan Yusipchuk, who already managed to acquire a decent role-playing role, also took an active part in the "Diaries of the Dark." The young actor is already known to the public by roles in the series about detective investigations of the magnificent dog Mukhtar.

He was filmed in the projects "Deliver at all costs", "Passion for Chapa", "Sinevir", "Shadows of Unforgettable Ancestors", "Guard", "Nahalka", "Flight of the Golden Fly" and others.

During the filming, not only professional actors were involved ("The Dark Diaries" - a series in which most of the invited artists made their debut), but also newcomers like the Ukrainian soloist of the band "KAMON !!!" Alisa Kosmos, member of the musical duet "Dantez & Oleinik" Vadim Oleinik, Yan Zapolsky, Sergei Shishkov, Yevgeny Kolesnikov and others.

Where did the shooting take place?

According to the general producer of the TV channel "TET" Irina Kostyuk, shooting a multi-series fantastic film was held in Kiev. And many scenes had to be filmed in a cemetery, in a forest, on a swamp and even abandoned urban buildings. Sometimes the action took place underwater, where not only the actors had to dive, but also the crew.
