The order tape - what is it?

What is a sash? Description, history of occurrence and examples of use are described in the article.

Definition

The order ribbon is a fabric used for tightening the medal straps, covering the pads with which the rewards (orders and medals) are fastened to the uniform. Each ribbon has a unique color and pattern, they are set by the statute of the award.

What is it for? Wearing medals and medals on the uniform is not very convenient, since they are rather bulky, so for compactness use special rectangular slats. A person who knows the colors of the ribbons on the bar will easily determine by what medals and / or orders the owner has been awarded.

History

This element appeared in the 19th century in tsarist Russia. Then it was wide strips of cloth of a certain color, to which the orders were fastened. For example, the St.Aniformes corresponded to the blue ribbon, St.Annovsky - red, St. Vladimir - red with two black stripes, St. Anna - red with two yellow stripes, which symbolized the "sincerity of the burning soul". They were worn around the neck or worn over their shoulders, behind were fastened with gold or silver clasps.

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on June 19, 1943, an order ribbon of a modern type was approved.

Production

This product is a narrow colored or patterned strip of fabric with transverse and longitudinal threads. The edges are overcrowded. They are made on special weaving looms from viscose or lavsan twisted yarns.

Such tapes should "pour". This moire effect is achieved by special finishing at the last stage of manufacturing - calendering. Moire can be on one side of the product or on both its sides.
