The more friends you have on Facebook, the longer you will live?

According to statistics, people spend about twelve days a year in social networks. Twelve days without interruption, with eyes chained to the screen! This may sound very sad and not at all resemble a healthy lifestyle, however, scientists have discovered that active communication, supported through Facebook, can prolong your life.

Friends play an important role

Do not rush to open a page with a social network! The point is not to flip through a tape of news and follow secretly behind the pages of the former. The study simply confirms the idea that has been present in other experiments over the past few years: an active social life is useful for your health and makes your life longer. All these benefits can be obtained from digital communication.

Study details

Twelve million users aged between twenty-seven and seventy-one years took part in the study. As a result, it was observed that users of a social network with more than average friendships have a lower mortality rate than those who use the social network less often. A positive effect is activity with real friends, for example, sharing photos. People who simply look through the publications of others do not experience a positive effect. In addition, it is noted that it is also useful to receive a large number of requests for friendship. In short, it is clear that the social network itself does not prolong life. It is useful to meet new people and add them to friends on the Internet, and then actively maintain relationships. This is the key to health. The findings of the researchers were confirmed by several universities and the state commission. The important idea is that each person needs friends and contacts with them need to be supported.
