The master cylinder of the clutch. "Gazelle": the device and repair of the master cylinder of the clutch
To drive the car, you need to transfer the torque from the engine to the box. For this, the grip is responsible. It is this node that transmits the torque through certain gears to the wheels. The main function of the clutch is the temporary disconnection of the power unit from the gearbox. Also, the mechanism is responsible for the smooth start of the gear units when the engine is running.
Characteristics of the device
With the help of the clutch it is possible to prevent the cutting of the load change, which ensures a smooth start of the car from the place. Also, the clutch protects the entire transmission from loads of inertia moments, which result from a sharp slowdown in the crankshaft rotation on the running engine at the moment when the driver switches gears.
Below we will consider the construction of the master cylinder of the clutch. "Gazelle" is commercial transport, therefore periodically it requires maintenance. What are the problems with clutching, how to repair, maintain and, if necessary, change this assembly? Let's talk about everything in order.
How is the hydraulic drive "Gazelle"
It consists of a small number of parts and assemblies. So, in the system there is a tank of the main cylinder of coupling. "Gazelle" is completed by him since 1995. The reservoir contains a brake fluid, which works in the drive. Also, the assembly includes a master and working cylinder, tubes, hoses and nipples. The system also uses a return spring.
Principle of operation of the hydraulic drive
If you do not go into the details of how the master cylinder of the clutch is arranged, GAZelle works as follows. When the car driver presses the pedal, this force is transmitted to the main drive by means of the rod. Here it is perceived and through the network of tubes goes to the working cylinder. The latter, by means of the clutch fork and release bearing, disconnects or connects the engine to the transmission.
Hydraulic drive unit
Among the main nodes that are part of the design of the element, you can identify the pusher. With it, the pedal communicates with the mechanism. Also it's the cylinder, the piston, the plugs and the return spring.
In the lower half is the working area. In the normal initial state, the piston of the cylinder is urged by a spring to the wall separating the cylinder into two zones. There is a gap between the piston and the pusher. Due to it, the liquid enters the working part. When the driver presses the pedal, the pusher moves and overlaps the gap. The liquid can no longer enter the lower zone from the upper zone. The piston moves and the force is transmitted from the driver's foot directly to the working cylinder.
When you need to repair the master cylinder clutch
"Gazelle" may require repair with leaks of liquid or air ingress into the system. Even despite the simplicity of the cylinder design, problems also occur with it. There are several faults. Details about each of them - further.
Liquid leakage
Repair may be necessary if a lack of working fluid is detected. Causes are broken or damaged in the cuff of the cylinder, a violation of the tightness of the connections. In this case, it is recommended to check if the level in the surge tank is sufficient. If the liquid is small, then it is added. Then periodically check the level during routine maintenance or technical inspection. Sometimes a simple refilling of the working fluid can not help. Then carry out a thorough inspection, identify the location of the leak and then ensure the integrity. In this case it is possible not to repair, but simply to change the master cylinder of the clutch to the "Gazelle".
Air in the system
Another typical malfunction is the air in the system. Such a problem can lead to the complete inoperability of the node. The clutch will not be fully squeezed out, and the work of the pedal will be accompanied by a characteristic crunch or vibrations on the gearshift lever. Among the reasons why air enters the system directly into the cylinders, it is possible to distinguish various hose disruptions, the natural wear of the parts. Do not exclude leakage of liquid in places where the hydraulic drive sections are connected to each other. How does the master cylinder repair work? "Gazelle" is put on a flat surface, the damaged hoses are replaced with a subsequent pumping system.
Bleeding the liquid through the cylinder
Also there is one more malfunction - in this case the cylinder can pump the working fluid through itself. The cause of the malfunction is the cuff, which, most likely, is damaged. Perhaps there is a development due to the natural wear of the piston.
If the first signs of cylinder malfunctions are observed, the clutch system must be diagnosed and serviced. This will help to avoid the need to replace the cylinder completely.
Partial repair of master cylinder with repair kit
With it, you can avoid the need to replace the node completely. The repair kit consists of the following parts:
- Protective cap.
- Retaining ring.
- Piston.
- Return spring.
- The clutch of the main clutch cylinder "Gazelle".
To disassemble the cylinder completely, it is looking for a special cork. It must be unscrewed. In the process of assembly, a seal gasket should be installed under this plug.
Dismantling and defecating
The first thing to do is remove and disassemble the cylinder. You can find it in the left rear corner under the hood of the car.
Then replace the worn out components, which are provided in the repair kit. Before assembling the master cylinder of the clutch, the "gazelle" is required to be put on the handbrake. Each part must be lubricated with brake fluid. On the surface of the piston that will be in contact with the pusher, apply a little grease. Next, the cylinder is collected, installed in its place and pumped.
Replacement of the main cylinder of coupling
"Gazelle" requires this operation for the same reasons as in the previous case. These are leaks, natural wear, incorrect operation of the clutch mechanism. As already noted, this cylinder is located to the left of the rear corner under the hood of the car.
Before the replacement itself is carried out, it is necessary to drain the brake fluid from the system. For this purpose, the hose is connected to a special fitting. The latter is on the working cylinder.
When the working fluid supply pipe from the master cylinder is disconnected, it is possible to begin to unscrew the two nuts that hold the master cylinder itself. "Gazel-3302" continues to stand on the handbrake. After the nuts are unscrewed, the cylinder can be removed and replaced with a new one. The installation process is carried out in the reverse order. After the system is assembled, it is necessary to perform the pumping of the drive.
How to remove air?
After any repairs to the hydraulic part of the clutch, the system must necessarily be pumped. For this, the liquid is poured into the tank literally to the brim, and the union must be turned to the stop. Then press the pedal several times. This is done so that the brake fluid enters all the tubes. Then the pedal is fixed. Then twist the nipple and again squeeze the pedal several times, and then fix it. Next, put a tube on the fitting. She is lowered into a bottle of liquid. The coupling is unscrewed to release air. All these steps must be repeated until there is absolutely no air in the system.
Pedal adjustment
After being repaired or replaced with a new master clutch slave cylinder, the "Gazelle" requires adjustment of the pedal. This is a simple process. For this operation, a ruler is necessary, but the first step is to perform a diagnosis. If you try to start moving on the car, the pedal stays, during the switching process, various sounds are audible, movements and jerks are observed while driving, the motor must be started, release the clutch slowly and try to move smoothly. If the car is not in a hurry to get moving, then this indicates that the pedal is not set correctly. Its course is greater than it is determined by the norm. Next, using a ruler, measure the distance from the floor to the pedal pad. It should be no more than 14-16 cm. If it is higher, then the pedal needs to be adjusted. To do this, under the hood, find a bolt with a lock nut. It is located where the cable ends. The nut turns. At the same time, the desired pedal stroke is achieved. To increase the stroke, the nut must be tightened. If the move needs to be reduced, it is unscrewed. After adjustment, the pedal is checked again. The distance is measured again by the ruler. The adjustment continues until the desired result is achieved.
