Features of reliable protection: greases

Greases are one of the necessary elements in modern industry. They are used for processing chassis, chains, rotary axes in equipment, for shut-off valves and in many other cases. Particularly effective is their use in environments characterized by sharp temperature changes and high humidity.

Features and properties of greases

These agents have plasticity. This is the main difference between them and liquid lubricants. They are made on the basis of oils with the addition of thickeners, which can be used as polymers, clay, carbon salts.

  • Greases have different colors. They are transparent, black, light brown.
  • Many of these agents provide anti-corrosion protection to the parts being processed.
  • They differ in the absence of smell.
  • Do not change their density when the temperature changes.
  • Such lubricants do not flow, which makes their use convenient.
  • The minimum period of work varies from 2 to 4 weeks. Then the agent needs to be replaced.

Greases: Types

To date, there are a lot of varieties of grease. Let's talk about the main ones.

  1. Sodium. Often there are with the addition of calcium. Another name - konstallins. It is advisable to use them in conditions with a temperature of 70 to 110 degrees. The minus can be called the fact that they are afraid of water and can dissolve in it.
  2. Lithium. Are made on the basis of lithium. They are especially effective in conditions where strong vibration is observed, under heavy loads. Excellent for long-term use.
  3. Aluminum. Made of aluminum. Resistant to moisture, prevent oxidation of metals, thereby increasing conductivity. Often used in conditions differing in elevated temperatures.
  4. Polyurethane. Produced on the basis of powder. They are prone to biodegradation. Do not have any harmful effects on the environment and the human body.
  5. Teflon. They are distinguished by good thermal stability, they can withstand temperatures up to 250 degrees. On the processed parts leave a kind of film, which has electrical insulating and water-repellent properties.
  6. Polyglycolic. Their use allows to extend the service life of the mechanisms. Particularly often used in environments with high temperatures.
  7. Silicone. Protect from corrosion. Form a film that has water-repellent properties. Improves the sliding, thereby preventing friction of the parts. Do not rinse off with water.

In addition to these basic species, there are many others: pastes, greases based on thickeners (both organic and inorganic), etc.

Product Applications

Greases have a fairly wide range of uses. So, for example, silicone is used for refrigerators. They have food tolerance. Such lubricants are also distributed in everyday life. They process the car body paintwork, lubricate locks and door hinges.

Konstaliny used for all types of transmission mechanisms - shafts and rollers. In addition, they are a good solvent for lacquers.

Lithium grease is often used for open parts of equipment. It is perfectly suitable for plain bearings and roller bearings.

As you can see, greases have a whole set of useful properties that protect mechanical parts in the production process.
