The Holy Grail - what is this? Where is the Holy Grail?

Knights of the Round Table saw their destiny in the search and protection of the Holy Grail. The intimate contemplation of the chalice gives immortality, and by draining from it the liquid atones for sins ... Was there a Holy Grail? Or is it fiction? Is this the cup? Or a stone? Or some kind of relic?

The Holy Grail. Assumptions about the origin

According to medieval Celtic legends, this magical object is a cup from which Jesus Christ at the Last Supper drank. Joseph of Arimathea collected the blood of the crucified Savior in this shrine and brought him to Britain. There is one more interpretation of the concept - "living stone". Upon giving, it was brought by the angels to the earth and possessed a magical power. The "Holy Grail" still refers to the baby born of Mary Magdalene from Jesus Christ. The phrase is often used in describing the wonderful light, the sacred fire, the blessed horn of plenty, and even the church chant. Also occurs in the role of the designation of the coveted desire and purpose.

Church ordinance or Celtic myth

Virtually every nation has its own answer to the question of whether the Grail is what it is. In the Egyptian letters a hieroglyph was found, which denotes the heart. The sign had the shape of a magical vessel. Celts considered the Grail a full cup of wine, honey or beer, which the young girl offered to the king. It was a symbol of the supreme power of the tribe. Adherents of the Christian faith believed that the Grail is the heart of Christ. According to legend, it was created from an emerald that fell from the forehead of Lucifer. With the help of a magical object, the blood of Christ atoned for the sin of the fallen angel. Tradition also tells us that the cup was given to Adam, but after the fall remained in paradise. He who finds it there, will atone for the sins of mankind. Of course, only the most worthy seeker can find the Grail.

The Divine Sound

The formula of the Original Sound is the "Grail". What is it? God uttered this sound when he created the material universe. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." This sound has a power that transforms matter by making changes to the basic matrix of being. Wise men from Shambhala-Bodhisattva-brought the Grail into the world.

The legend says that during the Last Supper Jesus scribbled the formula of the Primary Sound on the bottom of the wooden dish. After supper, he handed the cup to Mary Magdalene, saying: "This is the Magdala of My Church ...". Thus he dedicated the maiden to a mystery, the value of which was understood only by her.

A thousand years after the arrival of the Savior, the Bodhisattva, Agapit brought the Holy Grail into the world once more. It was given in the form of a formula of 12 signs. In the XI-XII centuries, the subject was found. The people who kept it organized the Order of the Templars.

Order of the Knights

In the IV century BC the Grail became a symbol of the spirit of adventure, the magic of the surrounding world, the intertwining of myths and mystics of the doctrine of Christ. Ancient Egypt during this period became the place of creation of the Order of the Knights of the Grail. Its origin is connected with the attack of Lucifer on the castle of Monsegur, which was owned by the first king of the Grail Titurell. For protection, the knights united in the Order and vowed always to guard the magical object. After a while, this society was located in Palestine. King Solomon, who ruled there, wore the Grail in the form of a stone in the ring. Later, the magical object was reincarnated into a chalice, the kings of which were the knights of the Round Table of King Arthur.

When the world became too sinful, the Order of the Knights of the Grail decided to move the cup to a holy place. They went to the East, where they found themselves in the country of Shambhala. This is a mysterious place with eternal spring and the beating sources of youth. Here, on Mount Monsalvat, knights build a castle, which becomes the abode of the Grail. Around the mountain, according to legend, lies the Starry Ocean and the river of the Times flows. Only the elite who are called by the magic object can enter the castle.

Searches for a Bowl

Who just did not look for the Holy Grail. Many knights traveled the world in his search. In each epoch were their seekers. Even Hitler was obsessed with finding a bowl, sending expeditions to all corners of the world. Why do you need this item? According to the legends, the one who finds the cup will gain power over the world and obtain eternal life.

At the beginning of the XIV century, during a riot in France, the search began to deal with the king of the country, Philip IV, nicknamed the Beautiful. The coveted object was hidden in the Temple - the Paris residence of the Knights Templar. Passing through the underground corridors of the castle, the king saw a treasure chest, which seemed to cost more than all his property several times. When the insurrection subsided and Philip IV left the fortress, he was not left alone in the thought of the immeasurable wealth. Realizing that it could not have arisen by accumulation or offering, the king decided that the knights were helped by something that was endowed with immense power. Since then, the object of his desires was the Holy Grail. Where is he, the king knew, but how to get it? In October 1307, Philip IV sent a secret order to all the cities of France, which called for the arrest of the Templars with the confiscation of property. A little later, Pope Clement V accused the Order of sinfulness and forbade its further existence. The king's order was executed without any resistance from the Templars, but the treasure was never found. The magical object disappeared without a trace.

Russia, too, did not remain indifferent to the search for the Grail. Agvan Lobsan Dordjiev - representative of the Dalai Lama XIII - before the October Revolution erected a Buddhist datsan in St. Petersburg. The construction was focused on the paradise land - Shambhala.

The Grail - what is it? Literary sources

Information about the magical object is drawn from different works. Such authors as Chrétien de Troyes, Wolfram von Eschenbach, Robert de Boron made a great contribution to the formation of the legend of the Grail. The first writer at the end of the 12th century in his works told about a magical place and about the "Mountain of Salvation" on which Monsalvat Castle stands. In it, the Grail was hidden from the wicked people. The novel "Parsifal" tells of the location of the bowl on the border of Spain (the territory of Gaul). The legend of the "Fisher King" tells of the mysterious illness of the monarch of the keeper of the bowl. No doctor could help the king until Parzifal asked him about the whereabouts of the Grail and did not let him get drunk from the relic. In the book "The Holy Grail" A.E. Waite talks about the connection of the holy symbol with the idea of the atonement of sins and a voluntary sacrifice. The shrine was often mentioned in the Christian literature. The Gospel of Nicodemus tells how the Holy Grail took part in the Last Supper.

It is difficult to say whether it is possible to fully trust the ancient sources of literature, since earlier the influence of the church was enormous, including writing. Some of the works were subjected to severe censorship or were simply lost. But it is believed that those who know this story in small portions gave it out, it remains only to collect the information together.

Spear Longinus

In addition to the Grail, there is another magical subject in the world, endowed with miraculous powers, the Spear of Destiny. They pierced the body of the crucified Christ. The spear is considered a symbol of the fulfillment of the prophecy. It serves as proof of the physical death of the Savior and gives faith in his Resurrection.

Tradition endows the Spear of Longinus with magical power. It gives the elect the ability to heal wounds, restore health. The Keeper of the Spear can rule the whole world and remain invincible. The force disappears if the elect violates the established rules of behavior or part with the magic object.

Spearmen

For the first time the description of the shrine is found in the chronicles of Constantinople. Here the Emperor Constantine, holding the Spear, decided to found the capital of Christianity. After the deposition of Rome, the magic object passed into possession of the invader - Goth Alaric. Further, the Spear was in the hands of King Theodoric, Emperor Justinian. They are possessed by the most powerful warriors to whom the shrine bestows either prosperity and strength, or chaos and destruction.

The Carolingian dynasty last held the Spear in its place for the longest. After them, Saxon emperors, Barbarossa, Frederick II, seized power over the subject. After some time, the powerful house of the Habsburgs for a long time took possession of the shrine. After the battle of Austerlitz, Napoleon tried to find the Spear, but he was taken out of Vienna. In the museum of the city, the magic object was kept until 1938. At this time he was very interested in Adolf Hitler, and after joining the country to Germany, the Spear moved to Nuremberg. After losing in the Great Patriotic War, the Fuhrer tried to hide the relic by sending her to Antarctica, but did not have time. In 1946, the shrine was returned to Vienna, where it is still located.

Church tradition

Sotnik Longin, who pierced the body of the Savior, believed in Christ and went with sermons to pagan countries - the Caucasus and the Transcaucasus. It is believed that in the lands of ancient Armenia he left his Spear. According to another version, the tip of the shrine was brought by the apostle Faddee. More than once the peoples of the Caucasus turned for help to the relic. For example, under the reign of Emperor Alexander I, the shrine carried by the procession through the territory of Georgia saved people from the cholera epidemic.

The spear is kept in the sacristy of the Etchmiadzin Monastery. Is it real? Or is it a copy? Hard to tell. Scientists studied relics, both in Armenia and in Vienna, but they did not come to a single opinion on the authenticity.

Relic in works of our time

The Grail - what is it? Where to look for it? Such questions were repeatedly asked by the heroes of literary works, feature films and even computer games. Some of the most famous films that featured the shrine are Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, The Fisher King, The Da Vinci Code. The authors in their own way saw the mystery of the magic object. For example, in the "Da Vinci Code" tape, the Grail is a descendant of Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene. One of the sought-after writers who tried to find the relics was Dan Brown.

So what is the essence of the Grail?

The image of the shrine from time immemorial supports the faith of many people in the existence of a relic. The Holy Grail - what is it? There is still no exact answer to this question. But most often there is a variant of the cup, from which the blood of Christ was at the Last Supper. There is another version that a relic is a stone that has got to people in a magical way. But in one view of the shrine are similar - the message of the Grail lies in its ability to bestow salvation. In this regard, another possible solution is possible - this is a certain state of the human soul, in which it is possible to reunite with God.
