Peter the Great is the Russian Tsar who ruled Russia since 1689. This outstanding figure was famous for the huge number of cardinal reforms. Romanov is the surname of Peter the Great. His father's name is Alexei Mikhailovich, and his mother's name is Natalia Naryshkina.

Systematic education Peter the First did not receive. As a child, he was largely presented to himself. He grew up under the supervision of his elder brother, Fyodor A. After the death of the latter, Ivan Alekseevich was to become heir to the throne, but this did not happen because of his poor health. But as a result of the streltsy riot, the compromise was the enthronement of Ivan and Peter. Their elder sister Sophia Alekseevna was appointed ruler.

During the reign of his sister, Peter the First took part in the administration of the state only formally. Sophia, who closely watched her brother, was fond of military affairs and took certain measures to strengthen power. But in 1682, supporters of Peter dealt with her main admirers, and she herself was sent to a monastery. After that, the power in fact passed into the hands of Peter. But even after that the country was ruled by his mother, Natalia Kirillovna. After her death, at first the state machine worked mainly by inertia.

In 1697 Peter the Great went abroad, lives in Saxony, Holland, Venice, England and Austria. There, he gets acquainted with the success and achievements of these countries in such areas as shipbuilding, technology, as well as with the social and political structure. The news of the Streltsy riot caused Peter the Great to return to Russia, where he brutally suppressed the act of insubordination.

During his stay in other countries he formed his own program in political life. In the state, he saw the common good that everyone should serve. In many respects Peter the Great behaved unconventional for the monarch. For this reason, the majority of the population treated him very skeptically.

- the creation of St. Petersburg - the new capital of Russia;

- a council of ministers instead of a boyar thought;

- Russia receives the status of the Empire, and Peter the First becomes the first emperor of Russia.

Many changes have also been made in the economic system. Many measures were taken to effectively develop trade and industry. A large number of new industrial spheres, factories, factories, wharves, shipyards and manufactories have appeared. All this was created by Peter the First, taking into account the Western experience.

He also organized a navy and a regular army. Foreign policy was quite vigorous, the emperor conducted many military campaigns. As a result, Azov and territories that were previously conquered by Sweden were annexed to Russia.
