The drug "Akvadetrim": instructions for use

"Aquadetrim" is an aqueous solution of colcalciferol (vitamin D3), supplied in vials of dark glass. This transparent liquid also contains auxiliary substances: sucrose, flavor, petrol alcohol and others. In 1 ml of the drug "Akvadetrim", the instruction to which provides exhaustive information about its composition, contains 15 000 IU of vitamin D3.

Kolekaltsiferol is well absorbed, because it is a natural form of vitamin D, synthesized in the body under the influence of sunlight. As you know, this vitamin is necessary for the formation of bone tissue: it is involved in the absorption of calcium and phosphorus salts from the intestine, in transporting them to the bones of the skeleton, and also regulates their excretion from the body by the kidneys. In addition, a sufficient level of vitamin D is important for the normal functioning of the immune system.

Normally, it should be enough for all vital processes, but a violation of its absorption or lack of diet, as well as insufficient exposure to the sun can lead to osteomalacia - softening of bones in adults (in children - to rickets). In pregnant women, a calcium-deficiency disorder caused by vitamin D deficiency can trigger seizures and also cause insufficient mineralization of the fetal skeleton. The need for this vitamin is increased in women in the post-menopausal period: hormonal changes in the body often lead to osteoporosis. How to take akvadetrim under certain conditions, and at what dose, can only be decided by a qualified specialist.

The advantage of an aqueous solution of vitamin D3 is that it is absorbed by the body much better than oil, especially when it comes to preterm infants. It is absorbed into the small intestine and accumulates in the kidneys and liver. The manual attached to the preparation "Aquadetrim" describes in detail the method of application and the recommended dose of this substance depending on the age and diagnosis of the patient.

As a preventive measure for rickets, osteomalacia and osteoporosis, aquadetrim is recommended for use in the following doses: children from 4 weeks - 1-2 drops (500-1000 IU) per day. The same dose can be recommended to pregnant women (usually - not earlier than from the 28th week of pregnancy), and during menopause. Premature newborns or twins receive 2-3 drops (1000-1500 IU) per day. In the complex treatment of osteoporosis, rickets or rickets like diseases, the daily dose will usually be more - this depends on the specific diagnosis and severity of the disease. Despite its wide application, aquadetrim can be prescribed only by a specialist who will accurately determine the recommended dose and the duration of its intake, taking into account also the amount of vitamin D obtained by the body with food. An overdose of the drug can lead to quite serious consequences, so do not take it and, moreover, give the children without consulting a doctor.

There are certain contraindications to the use of this drug, among which - increased sensitivity to its components, kidney disease, especially urolithiasis, tuberculosis and others. In addition, as instructed in the instructions attached to the drug "Akvadetrim" instruction, it should not be given to children for up to a month, and also with special care should be given to pregnant and lactating women. Side effects of aquadetrism are quite unpleasant: this is the appearance of protein and leukocytes in the urine, and nausea, and dry mouth, and weight loss, and even mental disorders. Overdose of the same drug, in addition to the described consequences, can lead to serious impairment of kidney function, vision problems and the development of calcification of soft tissues. In such a situation, the reception is completely stopped and the appropriate treatment is prescribed to the patient. In particularly severe cases, hospitalization may be recommended.
