The country of Ghana is the cultural and industrial center of West Africa

The small state of Ghana is located in West Africa. From the south, its banks are washed by the Guinea Bay, on land the country of Ghana borders on Togo, Burkina Faso and Cote d'Ivoire. This territory has long been a British colony of the Gold Coast. The imprint of the colonial past is observed here at every step: almost all the population speaks English, the kitchen is dominated by English traditions, and in architecture you can see the British and Portuguese style.

Nature

In the south, along the coast of Ghana, lies a low plain, which rises to the north to 150-200 m. In the center of the state is the Ashanti plateau, in the east - the southern part of the Atakora mountain massif. A large territory of the state was captured by the Volta river basin.

Ghana is a country where vegetation is represented mainly by high-grass savannah or savannah forests. Evergreen forests are preserved only in the south-west, and on the plateau of Ashanti there are deciduous forests of a small area where valuable black and mahogany trees grow.

Economy

Ghana is one of the richest countries in West Africa. The state has developed a mining industry, as there are reserves of gold, bauxite, diamonds, manganese ore, oil, gas and other minerals. There are operating aluminum, cement, chemical and oil refineries

Speaking about the agricultural industry, the country of Ghana specializes in growing cocoa, sugar tron, botanite, sorghum, cassava and other crops. Also in this region are engaged in livestock, fishing, logging.

Attractions and big cities

The country of Ghana is often referred to as the "land of castles". On the coastline alone (250 km) there are 15 forts and castles. It was around the two fortresses (Asher Fort and Christianborg) that the modern capital Accra was formed. In this city there are still cozy old quarters. In Accra is a famous market, where they sell batic and glass-art products - "Makolo Market." The sights of the capital are: the National Museum, the Unknown Soldier's Memorial, the Arch of Independence and the Arts Center.

The second largest city of Ghana is Kumasi. Special attention deserves the local market "Kedgetia", the palace "Mania", the zoo and the Center of National Culture.

In the western part of this African state, gold deposits can be found, and the Volta River region is famous for the Ho museum, ruins of European forts and Vli waterfalls.

The eastern section is famous for its diamond mines, Mount Crab, the Akvapim ridge and the Dodi Islands.

A large number of castles are available in the city of Cape Coast and its environs. Here is the fortress of Cape Coast, the Dutch castle of Fort Nassau and many others.

The country of Ghana, in a short time of its independence, managed to achieve considerable success. We hope that, moving forward at such a rate, it will quickly turn from a developing state into a developed and prosperous region.
