The city of Kursk. Temple of St. Seraphim of Sarov: address and opening hours
Like many other Russian cities, the city of Kursk is famous for its golden domes. Temple of Seraphim of Sarov, whose address: st. Field 17-6, works daily. The rector of the church is Archpriest George Annenkov.
In Russia before the revolution, a huge number of such temples were built, many of them the Bolsheviks destroyed or made of them farm buildings and yards. In every city there are many churches, about which there is something to tell people. Take, for example, Kursk.
The Temple of St. Seraphim of Sarov is located in the historic district of this city called the Gypsy Hill. We must immediately point out the fact that it was the Kursk land that gave us the great holy ascetic Seraphim. The idea of the building of this church among the parishioners was born after the canonization of their compatriot St. Seraphim, solemnly held in 1903 on July 19.
Kursk: the Temple of St. Seraphim of Sarov
In 1905, at the expense of the city and merchant IV. Puzanov, who donated 10 thousand rubles for the construction, was built a two-complex school, and with her a church in the name of St. Seraphim. In the successful outcome of this very important business, the Kursk Diocese was also interested. City Bishop Pitirim consecrated new buildings. As soon as the temple opened, crowds of worshipers reached out to honor the memory of their beloved saint, not only from this area, but also from other settlements. They wanted to receive prayer and protection from the miracle-worker Seraphim.
This is the city of Kursk. The Temple of the Monk Seraphim of Sarov was not a parish, as the residents of the Gypsy Hill were not attached to it and, accordingly, could not receive and fully realize their religious and spiritual needs. To this was added the fact that the church did not have its own parable - the composition of the priests. All the relying services were performed by a priest from the cathedral.
Coming
However, after a while the issue of transforming the church into a parish church became acute. Such a desire appeared among the local population, which was attributed to the Ochakivsky Church of the Assumption of the Mother of God, and the other part of the people only began to move to this place from other areas of Kursk according to the administrative documents of the city government.
In 1908 the petition to the city government from the inhabitants of the Gypsy hill to transfer the church together with the school under the wing of the Spiritual Consistory was first given by the Kursk Bishop Pitirim, followed by Kursk and Oboyan Archbishop Tikhon.
In documents intended for the Synod's Board, Archbishop Tikhon presented the grounds, which indicated the number of houses and residents who wished to stand out in a separate parish. As a result of private houses, there were 208 and 1316 souls male and female.
Requirements
Then the city government requested information about the conditions that would give the opportunity to open an independent parish in the temple. The spiritual consistory reported its demands in document No. 4766 of February 24, 1911, which stated that the Kursk diocese should be administered independently by the church building (the conduct of the Diocesan authorities); The area of the whole church land, according to the construction charter, will be the property of the temple.
After a short time, these requirements were supplemented by the fact that the school premises at the church should be given to the needs of the parochial school for them. Engineer Konopatogo, who intended to open here. In 1993, in this vast room, which differed from the main architecture of the church, a chapel was built in honor of St. Joseph of Belgorod after his canonization. This is also a great holy wonderworker, to whom Kursk can be famous. The Temple of Saint Seraphim of Sarov could not leave this fact without attention.
After everything was legally settled, the Spiritual Consistory requested the Highest Resolution to accept the church-school from the city government as a gift.
Puzanov school
In 1915 on August 16, the decree was signed by His Imperial Majesty Tsar Nicholas II, and the Seraphim Church-School became a parish, entrusted to the spiritual authorities, and the school was named Puzanovskaya. In the 1930s the parish ceased to exist, the Soviet government turned it into a gym and workshops.
Today the temple looks a little different than in the past years, but has not lost its beauty. On January 15, 2006 Archbishop Herman of Kursk consecrated the church and the main throne in the name of St. Seraphim of Sarov.
Many believers and pilgrims come to the city of Kursk. The Church of Seraphim of Sarov, whose working hours are indicated below, opens the doors for all comers.
