Teaflopedagog is an important profession

Our children are our gold, which we cherish and try to protect in all possible ways. Their health for loving parents is always in the first place. Unfortunately, children are sometimes born with some disadvantages or acquire them at a very young age. Often, there is a visual impairment, and then you have to contact a different specialist, including a typhlo-pedagogue. This profession may not be familiar to anyone, and therefore we will try to understand it.

Teaflopedagog is the person who, being a leading specialist, coordinates and directs correctional and pedagogical work with visually impaired children, including those who are deprived of vision from birth.

The specialist can conduct his activities in several areas:

  • Conducting a survey of students;
  • Corrective special classes with children of preschool age;
  • Active participation in school life;
  • Besides the children themselves, the specialist works with their parents.

In order for a specialist to perform his duties effectively, he must be familiar with the developmental features of all his patients. In addition, the typhlo-pedagogue is the person who directly participates in the period of children's schooling. All this he can learn in the course of a special survey, which is conducted on the basis of special schemes and techniques for working with schoolchildren who have visual pathology to some extent.

Based on the results of the survey, it is possible to understand which method is suitable for the student in accordance with the identified opportunities. At the same time, a special program is developed for each student, which the expert adheres to during the classes.

Feature of the profession

It is difficult to overestimate the importance of such a specialist as a typhlopedagogist. This is an important profession, because up to 90% of all information a person perceives directly through the eyesight. Healthy and keen eyes are one of the important factors of a full-fledged existence in society and the ability to survive in the wild conditions of nature. However, unfortunately, there are different situations in which you can lose sight or be blind from birth. In this case, the shortcoming has to be filled in different ways.

As a rule, those people who lost sight, perceive the world around them in a slightly different way. They usually noticeably improve their hearing and acquire a special sensitivity on their fingers. Nevertheless, in such cases, external assistance is needed, especially in the case of children.

Duties of a specialist

The main duty of such a specialist as a typhlo-pedagogue is to teach visually impaired or completely blind children to receive and process all information about the world around them. To do this, there are reading lessons, where special books with Braille are used.

It is also important to instill in them skills and skills in self-service. But it is extremely important to teach children with such limited opportunities correctly navigate in space. Also, the task of the teacher includes not only special education, but also the methods of moral, aesthetic and physical education.

Most children who have little or no vision, do not want to dwell on any result achieved, but want to go further in their development. Any visually impaired person wants to get a higher education, to master an interesting profession for which he intends to work in the future. Many at the same time choose their own creative or scientific specialty. This is also the merit of teachers who teach all children the necessary skills so that they can work in the future in various fields of production.

History

At present, there is a whole science called "typhlopedagogics", which comes from the fusion of two words: the Greek τυφλός (blind) and "pedagogy" - and is a division of defectology. However, everything had a beginning, and the founder of this science was the teacher from France V. Gaiui (1745-1822), who adhered to the views of D. Diderot.

At home and in Russia, Gayuy founded the first educational institution where a blind child can get a good education. Thanks to him, systematic training of the blind or visually impaired was formed. In addition, from this time on, people of this "category" began to be treated more humanely, as to any full-fledged person who also needs education and a job.

Here it is worth noting another personality - L. Braille (1809-1852), who is the author of a system that has changed the traditionally used teaching of blind people. It is based on six-point combinations and covers not only alphabetic, mathematical, but also other symbols. As a result, the blind can freely write and read. Braille himself is blind since he was three. At first he was a graduate of the Paris National Institute for people who had lost sight, and then his work was the work of a typhlo-pedagogue.

In France, the first book with Braille was printed in 1852, and in Russia it appeared some time later - in 1885. In Russia, schools for the blind began to appear in 1807, and during the 19th century several similar educational institutions were opened. Training for those times cost a lot of money - about 300 rubles a year.

Is it possible to become a typhlopedagogist?

If someone is interested in this profession, then it can be learned in any pedagogical university at the Faculty of Defectology. However, one desire is not enough, it is necessary to be able to work with blind children. It is also important to understand how a visually impaired person perceives the world and how his mind works.

In addition, you need to have many necessary qualities. You must always remain kind to children, to love them, to be responsible. But the most important thing is to have the desire to help the weak.
