Tank truck for transportation of petroleum products: features and safety rules

The tanker for transportation of petroleum products belongs to the category of trucks and is supplemented by a special container. It is subject to high safety requirements, as well as to other vehicles used for the transport of dangerous goods.

There are many varieties of petroleum products, which are grouped together in similar properties:

  • Hot bituminous material;
  • Substances in solid form (cold bitumen, paraffin);
  • Conservation and plastic lubricants;
  • Oil oils (hydraulic, transformer, insulating, motor);
  • Fuel (aviation, jet and diesel fuel, kerosene, gasoline).

Tank truck for transportation of petroleum products: varieties

Cars can have a different purpose. Some are used to transport oils and fuel to the destination. Others provide two functions at the same time: transportation of fuel and fueling equipment. The tanker for the transportation of petroleum products must meet the requirements of fire safety due to the characteristics of transported substances that are explosive. The design consists of several compartments necessary for simultaneous transportation of several types of fuel.

Characteristics

Technical characteristics depend on the purpose and determine such parameters as:

  • Total mass of the tank;
  • Diameter of the pipeline;
  • Maximum speed (about 70 km / h);
  • Number of compartments;
  • Volume;
  • Materials used for manufacturing;
  • The location of the technical cabinet;
  • Form of vehicle.

In a gasoline tank truck, it is possible to transport both light and dark petroleum products, including fuel oil. But after they are delivered for further operation by design, pre-treatment with hot steam is required.

The main difference between a gas tanker and a conventional gasoline tanker is to equip the first version with a drain pump and a dispensing crane. In addition, many modern ATZs have fuel metering counters.

If the tanker for transportation of petroleum products, the average size of which is in the range of 9x2.5x4 m, has several compartments, each of them must be equipped with a separate drain, this is necessary to eliminate the possibility of mixing different types of materials.

Alternative option

Transportation of petroleum products is also possible with triaxial trailers, which are attached to truck tractors (MAZ, URAL). Such a variant of transportation is optimal for off-road, as they are equipped with specialized tires and additional overall lighting. In addition, they are equipped with spare wheels, which ensures safety and unimpeded transport.

The following equipment is included in the equipment of the trailer tank:

  • Screw jacks placed on both sides;
  • Ball valves and a sump with filter elements are located on the rear;
  • A platform made of specialized steel, and supplemented with flooring, is equipped with a folding fence and a ladder;
  • The container is made of steel and has an elliptical shape, its volume averages 40 m3;
  • The volume of fuel is measured by level gauges installed in the throat;
  • Two sealed hatches are placed on the underside;
  • The neck of the tank is fixed with folding bolts and is supplemented by a breathing valve designed to reduce the amount of evaporated fuel.

Features

The truck is designed for the set pressure, which is regulated by the rules of transportation safety. In addition, regardless of the type of fuel, there should be the possibility of sampling to determine the quality and compliance of substances to standards. A tanker for transportation of oil products, the volume of which, as a rule, is within 40 cubic meters, has a container made of steel and placed on the chassis. The pressure inside is automatically pumped to drain through special devices.

Shipping Rules

There are basic requirements for the transportation of oil products and drivers driving a vehicle. Among them is the following:

  • A tank truck for transportation of petroleum products is painted in certain colors;
  • Presence of inscriptions and plates warning of danger;
  • Enhanced fire safety measures;
  • Installation of signaling means (orange flashing lights);
  • Availability of personal protective equipment;
  • The driver must undergo appropriate training and have access to the transport of dangerous goods.
