Super-Extra Grapes: Variety Description and Care

The choice of grapes for growing on their own private plot is carried out according to several criteria, including fast-growing, quality and quantity of harvest, easy maintenance of the vine and much more. This article is devoted to a variety such as Super-Extra grapes.

Main characteristics of the variety

The grapes in question are canteens. A grape variety of Super-Extra was bred in Novocherkassk on a personal plot of land as a result of crossing the grapes of the varieties Cardinal and Talisman. The main advantage of this variety is its rapidity and rapid maturing of the vine, which allows the plant to tolerate short and cool weather conditions, without losing in the productivity of the current and next year.

Frost resistance of the vine is very high: the grade perfectly tolerates a drop in temperature to -25 degrees. Grapes Super-Extra (photo in the article) is considered one of the most resistant varieties and for a variety of diseases, such as mildew and oidium. It is these features that make it possible to successfully grow this variety on garden plots in the middle belt and even in Siberia, provided the vine is sheltered during cold weather.

Description of the grapes of Super-Extra

Grapes Super-Extra, the maturation period of which is only 90-105 days, forms rather large clusters weighing more than 0.5 kg each, and under favorable conditions reaches 1.5 kg. At the same time, the distinctive feature of the bunch is the presence of berries in various sizes: from very large to medium.

The variety of grapes of Super-Extra is distinguished by a magnificent sweet-sour taste of berries, which have dense skin. During the period of pouring, the berries are white, and as they mature, they acquire a beautiful amber tint. The weight of one berry is an average of about 8 g. Due to the high density of the skin they perfectly tolerate transportation over long distances.

Amateur hobbyists should pay attention to a few tips for planting and caring for the vine, which are given below, to increase the chances of obtaining a large harvest of grapes of the Super-Extra variety.

Super-Extras grape planting scheme

Before All, it is worth recalling that the vine can normally develop and bear fruit only when it is almost all day illuminated by the sun's rays. Therefore, it is better to choose a well-lit place for planting. The Super-Extra grapes, the description of which contains information on the strong growth of the plant, should be planted at a somewhat greater distance from each other than other varieties. The rows should be at least 2.5 m wide, ideally 3 m. The seedlings in the row should be placed about 2 m apart. Preparation of the place where the grapes of this variety will be planted should be at least 3 months before planting the seedlings. In most cases, amateur gardeners prepare planting pits 80 x 80 cm and a depth of about 1 m, in some cases you can dig a trench.

The top layer of soil, which remained after digging holes or trenches, must be mixed with humus and sand (if it is clayey). In addition, it is not bad to add about 1 bucket of clean wood ash and a superphosphate package (0.5 kg) into the soil mixture. The resulting mixture falls asleep on the bottom of the landing pit or trench and is well spilled.

How to properly plant a young vine

Planting Super-Extra grapes is necessary as soon as possible after the acquisition of seedlings, since the roots of this plant are easily succumb to drying. Before planting, it is best to soak the roots of the seedling for a day in pure water or a solution of the rooting stimulant, which are sold in any store for summer residents. After soaking it is necessary to lower the roots of the grape seedlings into the liquid clay solution, after which you can land it on a permanent place. The depth of planting should be acceptable, that is, there is no need to fill the young plant with soil to the root neck. It is better to fill the land with growth.

When planting in the spring, the grapes should be pritenyat until fully accustomed to the shelter material with low density. In the autumn period, the seedlings need protection from frost and the preparation of a good shelter for the winter.

Features of care for grapes Super-Extra

Care for grapes Super-Extra must be done immediately after planting. Watering should be done at least twice a month with sufficient amount of water (about 30 liters per plant). In the future, watered if necessary, not overwetting the soil, as this can cause cracking of the fruit. After watering and natural precipitation, the soil under the grapes should be carefully and carefully loosened, taking care not to damage the roots that are close to the surface. During loosening, all weeds are removed.

In the spring period before the growth of shoots, it is important not to forget about processing the vine with a Bordeaux liquid to prevent the development of diseases. In the same period, they are also engaged in the formation of plants: they tie the vines to the supports, cut old, superfluous and diseased shoots. It is worth paying attention to the gardeners that, for better yields, it is sufficient to leave 5-7 eyelets on each vine for pruning when pruning.

Since the flowers of the grapes of this variety are bisexual, the ovaries are formed very much. To avoid depletion of the vine and its breakage due to the heavy weight of the filling fruits, it is recommended to carry out the normalization of the inflorescences, that is, plucking out excess bunches during the flowering period.

Having planted this wonderful variety of table grapes in all its aspects, any summer resident begins to feel like a skillful vintner who always collects excellent crops.
