Summary of "Raspberry Water" - "Notes of the Hunter"

Today we will review the work from the cycle "Notes of the Hunter" "Raspberry Water". A summary of it will be described below. The story begins on the August hot day, when the narrator was on the hunt.

Turgenev, "Notes of a Hunter", "Raspberry Water": a short summary

The narrator managed to reach the key with difficulty. It was called "Raspberry Water" and beat from the shore of Ista. The narrator got drunk, and then he found a shadow and lay down there. A pair of elderly people sat nearby and fished the fish. The narrator recognized Styopushka in one of these people. He was slender, small and in a pretty patched coat. Stepan lived in the village, which was called Shumihono. Was located in the house of the gardener Mitrofan.

Past

Let's continue with the summary. "Raspberry water" is a work about a hero who did not have a past at all. Who is Styopushka, what does he live, where did he come from, no one knew about it. No one spoke to him, he did not seem to open his mouth to the people. Mitrofan did not invite him to live, but did not drive him away. Styopushka all day silently bustled like an ant for food.

Appearance

We continue to describe the summary. "Raspberry water" further acquaints the reader with the appearance of the main character. He had a small face, yellow eyes, hair to the eyebrows, a pointed little nose, a little beard and unusual ears. In the familiar Styopushka, the narrator is recognized by Mikhailo Saveliev, who wore the nickname Tuman. He was a freedman, a servant before Count Peter Ilyich. Now he lived with the philistine Bolhovsky, who was the innkeeper of the inn. Next is described a wooden house - two-story and huge. In it was located at that time an inn. Previously, it belonged to Peter Ilyich, who was a wealthy nobleman of the last century. Many old-timers remember his feasts, which rustled throughout the province. He was ruined. I went to Petersburg to look for a place, but died in a hotel room. The mist was his butler. It was a simple man of about seventy with a good-natured smile and a pleasant face.

Summary of "Raspberry Water" (Turgenev): final

The final part of the work begins with the narrator approaching the people described and starting a conversation. At the same time, the Fog is put into memories dedicated to the late Count. He recalls feasts and hunting, which were arranged by Peter Ilyich, as well as numerous mistresses of the Count. An important person chose them from representatives of the lower class. The most wicked and beautiful was Akulina, who was the daughter of the Sith Titian. Suddenly, behind the talking people in the ravine there was a noise. The narrator looked back and immediately saw the peasant. He was about 50 years old, and he had a knapsack behind him. Fog called him Vlas. A man told me that he went to Moscow to his master. He asked me to reduce that obrok. Vlas only son died. He used to pay a rent to his father. The master was angry and threw him out. The fog asked how Vlas would live on, and he answered with tears and a smile that there was now nothing to take from him. The narrator asked then how much the lord appointed him. Vlas replied that it was ninety rubles. At the same time, he complained that the land is small, and there is only a master's forest and that it is sold. He sat down to the audience and fell into a puff. After half an hour everyone dispersed.

Notes

So we reviewed the summary. "Raspberry water" - a curious work, containing a number of fragments, which should pay special attention. For example, the author at the beginning of the narrative demonstrates extraordinary awareness in matters of hunting. He notes that during the summer heat the most concentrated and determined person in the forest is not able to be. In this case, the most faithful dog begins to follow the hunter's pace, sticking out his tongue and painfully screwing up his eyes. If the lord curses his four-legged companion, he begins to wag his tail and be embarrassed. All this manifests itself on the muzzle of the dog. However, it does not move forward.

While the owner at the beginning of the story lay in the shade, his dog, which we did not mention above, so as not to be distracted from the plot, tirelessly scoured the bushes, although nothing itself was expected from his own feverish activity. The author describes nature very colorful. In the narrative there are ravines, oak bushes, velvet short grass, covered with green, sun rays and silvery moisture. It should also be noted that in the village of Shumikhino mentioned above, there is one main attraction - a stone church, which was erected in the name of Kozma and Damian (the Reverend). It will also be useful for the reader to know that the said gardener Mitrophan had a wife Aksinya and seven children. Such was the summary. "Raspberry water", as already noted, is a work from the cycle "Notes of a Hunter".
