Stone fianit: description, photo, interesting facts

Fianit is perhaps one of the most popular crystals used in jewelry. In fact, the stone fianit - a precious synthetic crystal, obtained under artificial conditions. The beauty is not inferior to many natural gems, but the price is much lower.

The shade that a fianite can emit is determined by its chemical composition. During the experiments that took place in the USSR in 1960, scientists tried to create a crystal with certain properties in order to apply it in industry and technical innovations. And it turned out that the fianit (a stone, the photo of which was higher) obtained experimentally fell in love with connoisseurs of brilliant ornaments. By its composition, absolutely all cubic zirconia is zirconium dioxide. Special processing allows obtaining a high level of refraction of the beam, very similar to diamond. That's why we get a kind of play of light with daylight and artificial radiation.

This property is sometimes confusing to buyers who believe that fianit is a precious stone. By its external characteristics, it can indeed compete with natural precious minerals. It is especially interesting to observe the play of light in ultraviolet rays. Artificially excavated stone fianit sparkles bright blue, yellow, purple and other shades.

The name of the crystal deserves special attention. It is named after the research institution in which the first samples were obtained, the Physical Institute of the Academy of Sciences (FIAN).

To date, there are several ways of obtaining precious cubic zirconia. The most common method of crystallization. A special composition is immersed in the container, which is heated to a colossal temperature of 3000 degrees. Then they cool sharply, as a result of which crystals are synthesized on the containers' rods. Depending on the additives in the alloy, you can get a variety of shades. Due to this method, stone fianit is often used to simulate topaz, blue sapphires, rubies, green chrysolites and violet amethysts.

Undoubtedly, the production of artificial stones is a very costly enterprise, but this is several times more economical than starting to search for new deposits of diamonds, corundums and other valuable species. That's why the stone fianit will remain in demand for a long time. His popularity is explained simply: many people want to buy jewelry with a diamond, but not everyone can afford such a purchase. A graceful cubic zirconia with an equally bright shine and a variety of shades are available to a wide audience. Modern technologies allow you to create real masterpieces using this "zirconium cube".

In addition, a valuable crystal is in demand in the chemical industry, electronics, precision engineering. It is an excellent insulator at low and medium temperatures. And it becomes a conductive material when heated above 300 degrees. Processing this stone is not easy. In view of the fragility of the structure, it often crumbles. To reduce brittleness, the edges of the edges are slightly rounded.
