State Symbols of the Russian Federation: Flag, Emblem and Anthem

Russian symbols are very interesting and tell a lot about the history of the country. Detailed analysis deserves every element.

What does the modern flag look like?

The panel is distinguished by the traditional shape of a rectangle with three horizontal stripes of the same size. The width with length refers to each other in a proportion of two to three. The bands cover the flag of the Russian Federation in the following order: the top goes white, the center is blue, and the bottom is red. Officially the cloth was approved in 1896, before the coronation of Nicholas II, and before that the standard of the times of Peter the Great was used. He was also a tricolor with black, yellow and white stripes. In Soviet times a red cloth was used, but already in 1991 the state symbols of the Russian Federation of imperial times returned to the country. It was approved by the law "On Amendments and Additions to the Constitution" and is still in use. It is interesting that the ratio of the parties changed in 1993, when it was changed from a proportion of one to two by two to three.

The value of the cloth

The state symbols of the Russian Federation have no official interpretation. Nevertheless, there are several interpretations of colors. According to the first opinion, red represents sovereignty, blue is the color of the Mother of God, patronizing Russia, while white is associated with freedom and independence. There is another point of view. According to it, colors are associated with the regions of the country - white Russia, Little Russia and Great Russia. Finally, there is a third opinion about what the state symbols of the Russian Federation mean, which is mentioned most often. It says that white color is the embodiment of peace, purity and purity, blue - faith and faithfulness, and red - the strength and blood spilled over their native land.

Coat of arms of Russia

The flag is not the only significant symbol. The State Emblem is an image of a golden two-headed eagle. It is placed on a red background, and on top are three historical crowns of Peter the Great. In the paws of the eagle is a power and a scepter. On his chest he has a red shield with the image of a horseman, striking a dragon with a spear. The image of the eagle has been used since the time of Peter and serves as a symbol of the sovereignty of the Russian Federation, and the direction of the heads emphasizes that the country is located both in Europe and in Asia - it looks both to the west and to the east. The state and the scepter represent the state power. The rider is George the Victorious, the defender of the country, a fighter against evil and darkness. The restoration of prerevolutionary symbols serves as a link to the centuries of history that were before the emergence of the USSR and had a great influence on the future of the state. The modern coat of arms corresponds to the existing country, but also reflects the past, which is undoubtedly valuable.

Russian anthem

Finally, it is worth mentioning one more element. State symbols of the Russian Federation include a hymn. For a long time Orthodox songs were used in the country instead of secular music. During the time of Peter the Great, patriotic songs began to be used, and then the oldest march "Preobrazhensky" was in motion. It was used during the storming of Ismail in 1790, near Borodin in 1812. By the end of the nineteenth century, the most popular was the march of the elite regiment. Officially in Russia was the anthem of the English song "God Save the King", translated by the poet Zhukovsky with the help of Pushkin. It was called "Russian Prayer".

In 1833, new music and other words of Zhukovsky appeared. This hymn was called "God Save the Tsar" and was used until 1917. Interestingly, he was the shortest in the world - only six lines. After the revolution, the Marseillaise was used for some time, and then the Internationale. In 1993, the presidential decree made the melody of the anthem "Patriotic Song" by Glinka, which is still used today.
