Skinheads - who is this? Skinheads (subculture)

Recently, we hear more and more about skinheads. They are spoken about from the TV screens, they are described on the pages of newspapers and magazines. And in such a huge amount of information it is very difficult to understand, to find the real answer to the question "skinheads - who is this?". Are they dangerous for society? What are their main values of life? We will try to answer these questions together today.

What is a subculture?

Representatives of a certain youth subculture are teenagers who dress in a peculiar way, listen to certain music, have their own jargon. They have their own behavioral model. They arise always spontaneously and, more often than not, try to oppose themselves to the older generation.

Not always representatives of subcultures are aggressive, cruel, etc. The fact is that with closer acquaintance with serious publications and books about skinheads, there is an understanding that the picture, drawn in our imagination by media representatives, is very far from reality.

Skinheads are a subculture that has arisen spontaneously

The very word "skinhead" came to us from the English language. In translation, it means "bald head" ("skin head"). In the beginning, Western youth took a great interest in this direction. Over time, adolescents from other countries joined the movement, eventually spreading around the world. Already in the sixties of the last century, everyone knew who skinheads were. Subculture continues to exist to this day. It is worth noting that the subculture, as such, is neither an ideological nor a political organization. Only in rare cases can it be associated with any movement or party.

Russian skinheads

Today, this subculture is very popular in our country. Skinheads in Russia first appeared in 1991. They were students of Moscow technical schools and vocational schools, teenagers living in the sleeping areas of the capital and Leningrad.

Are the Russian skinheads different from Western ones? Who is it? Ordinary youth, united spontaneously? Not really. Despite the fact that in our country the economic crisis was even worse than in England after the war, the skinhead movement in Russia did not appear naturally. Our teenagers were very influenced by the Western mass culture. This explains why the offsprings of ordinary locksmiths and electricians sported in braces and boots of dockers from England.

Something else is different Russian skinheads. Subculture, which arose under the influence of the West, makes them scream about their people and country in foreign languages, waving American confederative and German flags. However, representatives of one of the subspecies of this subculture are engaged in this - bonheds.

Skin directions

Like any other, there are several directions and this youth subculture. Skinheads are different. There are red skins that have their own website and even issued their own magazine, called "Blown Sky." A separate direction is skins-antifascists. Representatives of this movement even guarded the concerts of rap performers, whom neo-Nazis consider as their sworn enemies. Such an event is called a skin-security.

However, virtually no one knows about the various directions of this subculture , they are very little talked about. TV announcers, journalists, publicists, everyone who likes to discuss issues of fascism, neo-Nazism and racism, prefer not to mention that there are skin-antifascists. Therefore, in Russia (and in the West too), the most famous are bonheads.

Bonheda in Russia

So, skinheads are known to everyone. Who is this and why are they spoken about in all media? All manner of behavior and style of their life are copied from Western models. They dress and look at life in the same way as their Western "brethren", listen to the same music and give priority to the same values of life. However, there is still a difference. Skinheads (bonheds) in Russia refer to the Aryan nations not only the American Anglo-Saxon white people and European peoples, but also the Slavic peoples (primarily Russians).

It should be noted that Russian skinheads are seriously mistaken. Subculture in Europe differs from ours. In other countries skinheads completely disagree with the fact that Russians can be referred to the Aryan nation. After all, we are "racially inferior" for them.

However, both Western and Russian bonheds are under the tutelage of other, "adult" organizations. They are skillfully managed by representatives of ultra-right and neo-Nazi movements.

Appearance

Any external subculture has its own external differences. Skinheads, whose appearance sometimes scares off, just follow certain traditions. So, by their standards, a real skin should look like this:

  1. A real Aryan with blond hair, straight thin nose and gray eyes. Of course, small deviations from the main type can be. For example, the eyes can be light-brown or blue, or the hair is slightly darker than light-brown. However, the general background should be maintained.
  2. The head should be completely shaved or very short-cropped. Their hairstyles are not like the hairstyles of bandits or policemen. The skinhead has the same length of hair throughout the head. Do not allow bangs, locks, etc. The main purpose of this hairstyle is to not let the enemy grab their hair.
  3. Almost 100% of skinheads have a lean physique. It is simply impossible to meet the representative of this subculture, which is obese.
  4. Wear only functional clothing. First of all, skinheads learn by army high boots. Preference is given to the famous "Grinders". Such shoes serve as a kind of weapon. Sometimes they wear camouflage pants, but more often they prefer black narrow jeans tucked up to their shoes. The straps are heavy buckles. Some guys wear braces. Jackets are black, with a slippery fabric, without a collar.
  5. On the skinhead you'll never see baubles, chains on the neck, piercings. Even if the guy wears a pendant in the form of a swastika, you know - before you is not a real representative of the skinhead subculture. In this form, he is no longer a fighter. Not to mention the fact that it is difficult to get involved in a fight, when you have pierced ears, lips, nose, etc.
  6. A real skinhead does not drink, does not smoke and will never use drugs. Meanwhile, skins often adorn bare skulls and whiskey with aggressive tattoos

These are the main signs of the representative of this subculture. Something can vary, but in small, minor details.
