Single-pitch roof: design and application features

The construction of roofs in modern construction are very different. Most often used gable, mansard, flat, hipped roof and single-pitched roofs. The simplest design is the last type - a single-pitched roof.

Traditionally, this type is used not for residential premises, but for utility buildings, garages, arbors, sheds, etc. However, sometimes a single-pitched roof is used for residential buildings, but more often as one of the roof elements of a complex construction.

One of the most important moments in the construction of a single-pitched roof is the correct calculation of the slope angle of the ramp. It can be different when using different roofing materials. The table shows the minimum angle of inclination for the most common of them.

The roofing system of the saddle roof, as already noted, is distinguished by its simple construction. All you need to do is arrange the construction so that one wall is higher than the other. But with this option it is difficult to achieve evenness of the ceiling. Therefore, more often use another option: simply build up the walls with wooden beams, and on one of the walls put a thicker beam, on the second - thinner. As a result, the rafters will lie obliquely, and you will get a ramp at an angle. How much one wall should be higher than the other, or one bar thicker than another to form the required angle, is calculated using geometric formulas.

The construction of a saddle roof in the event that the width of the span is not more than 4.5 m, will consist only of Mauerlat, stop and billet. If the width is wider, additional beams of such thickness are filled onto the joists to maintain the angle of inclination, or to install the struts. In the rafters to prevent their possible shifts make triangular notches - in those places where they rest on the Mauerlatt and on additional intermediate bars. For reliable fastening of rafters and mauerlata, two hundred-nails are used. Also it is necessary to arrange additional fastening, having hammered on the side a special rafter clamp. Such braces are made from reinforcement.

For all roofing materials used in construction, there are some general rules for mounting on any type of roof. A single-pitched roof is not an exception in this respect. First, the material is laid from the bottom up, starting from the eaves. Secondly, do overlaps between plates, sheets or canvases. The openings between the ramp and walls from the ends are laid with a brick, concrete or clogged with planks.

As you can see, the single-pitched roof is quite simple in execution. To make such a design is possible for any person, if he has a desire and initial skills. Yes, and materials on it is much less than other types of roofs. And this means that it turns out much cheaper. Such a roof has only one significant drawback: under it it is impossible to arrange an attic space.
