Construction of a house made of aerated concrete: insulation of external walls.

Many people, especially residents of large cities, megacities and both capitals with great pleasure buy their own suburban areas and build there small or, conversely, large enough, low-rise cottages. The idea itself is certainly magnificent, but at the preparatory stage a lot of different, albeit pleasant, but worries and difficulties arise, including in terms of the choice of material for the walls. And in this respect, it seems very promising to build a house made of aerated concrete .

Indeed, gas-silicate (also aerated) blocks have a lot of serious advantages in comparison with other materials. They perfectly preserve the heat in the room, have high noise insulation characteristics, are easy to assemble, the accuracy of the dimensions makes it possible to obtain almost completely flat ideal surfaces and so on, it will be difficult even for a professional to re-read.

But there is one very serious moment that, given the certain negligence of the performers, especially when building a house on their own, can lead to the fact that the house will turn out to be quite cold. The fact is that sellers, and some not very responsible manufacturers, believed that their "baby" is so unique that it does not even require a heater, it is enough simply to plaster the walls.

For the southern regions of the country this statement can and has some justification for very rare low temperatures, but for northern regions and the middle belt of our vast country such experiments are fraught with serious problems, including the loss of housing for the time being. For this reason, it is worth using a heater for external walls. At the same time, a reduction in vapor permeability must necessarily come from the outer layer to the inner layer. In this case, two problems will be solved:

  1. Moisture leaves the room outside, but not vice versa. When it rains, the humidity in the street is higher than in the room.
  2. Steam does not remain in the cavities of the blocks. As you know, it is moisture that is the most important enemy of gas-silicate constructions, and heaters in this respect are additional protection of the walls.

In conclusion, it should be noted that the choice of insulation, and especially its installation, must necessarily be carried out by specialists. Otherwise, the walls of the cottage will soon begin to deteriorate, become cracked, and the rooms will become cold and uncomfortable. Be careful and cautious, and you will always run home, as they say, from all angles.
