Sights of Bakhchisaray: a fairy-tale city, a garden city

The time of the foundation of Bakhchisarai is for certain nobody knows, but most historians tend to believe that the settlements here existed from the most ancient times. And this is not surprising, because the city is located in a unique place - at the foot of the Crimean mountains and very near the Black Sea (15 km). The mild climate, fertile lands and the proximity of sea routes in the second half of the 14th century attracted Mongol-Tatars, who settled in these places, made Bakhchisarai the capital of the Crimean Khanate at the beginning of the 16th century .

Since that time, the modern history of the city begins. Today all the guides list the sights of Bakhchisarai, starting with the Khan's Khansaray Palace, which was built exactly then by the Tatar khan Adil-Sahib-Girey. The name of this residence is translated as "palace-garden". A little later the village, which grew up around the Khan's palace, received its name - Bakhchisaray. Today, this residence is a symbol of the city, all streets leading to its courtyard.

Enumerating the sights of Bakhchisarai, one can not help recalling the Uspensky Cave Monastery, whose founding time is for certain nobody knows. It is absolutely unique in its architecture and location, which attracts not only pilgrims, but also tourists from all over the world. In general, it should be noted that the sights of Bakhchisarai, which have been well preserved to this day, refer mainly to the period after 1736, when the city was almost completely burned by the Russian army. However, the more valuable are those historical monuments that date back to the 15th-16th centuries. This, in the first place, in addition to the already mentioned Khan's palace and cave monastery, the Mausoleum of Azis (Eski-Dyurbe), several ancient cemeteries and other medieval Christian monasteries.

The cave cities that were created in these places long before the founding of the Mongol-Tartar capital here: Chufut-Kale, Tepe-Kermen and Kachi-Kalon are the attractions of Bakhchisaray located in its vicinity, the fruits of the "hands" of nature itself, which have no analogues in the world .

Today the city of Bakhchisaray has the status of a historical monument. It is interesting not only for its ancient buildings, but also for the modern way of life. It is always quiet and peaceful, despite the developed tourist infrastructure that Bakhchisaray has. Its attractions are mountain tourism (skiing and swimming in clean mountain lakes). And also the pristine beauty of wild perfect nature and amazing eastern cuisine, local flavor and healing mountain air. All this is Bakhchisaray.

Attractions, photos of which can impress the most sophisticated tourists attract travelers from all over the world. Foreign citizens can be found here more often than on the southern coast of the Crimea, where mostly beach lovers go. In Bakhchisarai, given that it is not located on the seashore, as a rule, tourists who want to touch the ancient history go to see the places sung by many classics with their own eyes.
