Septic tanks: the device and the principle of operation

1. Digestion with a lack of oxygen.

2. Decomposition in a biofilter in the form of a backfill in which microbes live in an aerobic environment, transforming the organic matter into sludge. The principle of its action is similar to the decomposition of sewage water on the soil surface, only the process takes place in a container with porous granules and air access. Due to the developed active surface, the filter volume is small, and the process is much faster than on the surface of the soil. Solid granules are covered with a film of bacterial colonies that consume impurities. If it is not present, the granules perform the function of mechanical filtration, which significantly reduces the efficiency of purification. To activate the process of decomposition of organic substances, biopreparations are introduced into the sewage system at least once a month in some models. Together with the sinks, they get into the cleaning devices. The beginning of their action can be determined by the absence of an unpleasant odor. The backfill should not be filled with water, and impurities enter into it in small portions.

3. Aerotank with stirring of drains by air, in which aerobic bacteria decompose organic matter. In the presence of active silt, with air access, microorganisms actively multiply and eat organic substances. The process must be continuous, otherwise the active sludge dies after 3 months. Then the liquid through the pipe passes through the primary settler chamber to the second biofilter and into the third settler. From there, water is transported by gravity or by means of a pump to filtrate into the ground.

Bars-Aero

The septic tank is a vertical tank of two chambers. The principle of operation differs from previous models. The effluents through the branch pipe 1 enter one of them (aerotank) and are saturated with air using aerators 3 located on the bottom. A bacterial accumulator 2 is located in the tank, serving as a biofilter. On its developed surface live and reproduce aerobic microbes, eating impurities. Active sludge is downloaded by airlift 4 from the bottom of the tank to the basket 5, located near the neck.

The turnover of silt in the station is continuous. Its excess accumulates in the basket and is periodically removed. Air supply to the airlift is regulated by the valve 6, access to which is possible through the neck. Purified water leaves through a branch pipe 8.

Final purification of effluents occurs in the next settler with inclined partitions. At the output, technical water is formed, which can be used to irrigate the garden or dump into the ground.

The "Barse-Aero" septic tank clears sewage by 98%. After switching off the compressor after 4-6 hours. In septic growth of anaerobic bacteria begins. Aerobic covered with a protective film and go into sleep mode. After the termination of the aeration, it is recommended to reduce the discharge of effluents to the septic tank, otherwise the active sludge will be removed from the tank. They can be returned to active life if the aerotank is started no later than in 1-2 days.
