Room liana: home care, photo

Nowadays, vines are quite common indoor plants. This winding greens has many species and refers to different botanical genera. But all of them are united by one - the way of existence.

General information

Many have become accustomed to the fact that the liana is an indoor flower, but it also has species that grow in the wild. They just need to take root and find support so that their flexible shoots begin to develop rapidly. They can ascend to a height of 25 m or weave a real horizontal carpet from their lush greenery.

I must say that the lianas get along well with other plants, for example coniferous. In order to climb up or blossom any surface, they use special devices, such as tendrils, suckers, accessory roots or hooks. Some lianas are devoid of such fastening organs, so they form stems in such a way that they can wrap around the support. In addition, they are able to rely on her lateral leaves or branches, as well as thorns, needles or thorns.

Types of lianas

These plants are so diverse that some can amaze with their exotic flowers, while others are deprived of them, but they can delight the eye with a wide range of coloring leaves. Now the planet has more than 2 thousand species of lianas, which belong to different families.

Lianas room (photo presented) are divided into three types: deciduous and evergreen, perennial and annual, woody and herbaceous. They are also classified according to the method of attachment to surfaces. For example, some plants do this with the help of suckers, antennae, thorns, etc.

The most common "climbers" are chlorophytum, ivy, philodendron, bougainville. Room- blossoming lianas, such as stephanotis, clerodendrum, passionflower, rhombus rhombus rhombus, equilateral bell, wax ivy and others, with proper care will long please you with their beauty.

Distribution area

In nature, such plants can be found in many parts of our planet. Among them there are even palm trees (rattan palm), ferns (Japanese ligodium) and cacti (seleniereus large-flowered). Such condiments, known as all, like vanilla and pepper, are a special way of cooked fruits all the same lianas.

33% of all tropical forests consist of these amazing plants. Here there are about 2 thousand species of the most exotic and original loaches. I must say that it was from tropical species that the plants that we know as room lianas have occurred (photo). The names of loaches, such as beans or grapes, are associated with us with delicious and healthy products. European forests consist of only 2% of lianas. In a temperate climate, there are about 200 species of this life form.

Many lianas grow in the subtropical forests of the Caucasus, in the Mediterranean climate of the Crimean peninsula and even in the Ussuri taiga of the Far East. Now vines decorate apartments and household plots, numerous parks and squares. And how elegantly they look in the gardens! Decorative lianas are used to decorate verandas and arbors, arches and pergolas, retaining and trellis walls, as well as fences and other less expressive structures.

General recommendations

Before you have at home a house flowers lianas, you need to correctly determine the location of their location. It is very important that the plants are not cramped, and all their leaves can breathe freely. In addition, you need to think about the supports and the space where shoots will grow. Such "walks" vines are corrected with the help of numerous devices that can be purchased at any flower shop. These are various gratings, stands, wire structures, baskets, suspended pots, ropes, etc.

The native climate of the lianas is very warm and humid. Therefore, for their good growth, the room temperature should be approximately 20-25 ° C. Also it should be well lit, as the variegated indoor liana in the shade loses its bright color. But at the same time direct sunlight can harm the plant. Negative effects on it are drafts and dry air. Rapid growth of the creeper will be facilitated by periodic loosening of the soil in the pot. This should be done to a depth of not more than 1.5 cm and closer to the walls of the flowerpot, so as not to damage the root system.

Plant transplantation

Most often in shops, flowers are sold in temporary pots. Therefore, if a room liana is bought in this capacity, then within one or two weeks it must be transplanted. In this case, the plant is transported directly with a clod of earth, so as not to injure its roots. You need to do this very carefully, because you can break long shoots.

The soil for the lianas should be light, but fertile, with a slightly acidic or neutral reaction. For this purpose mixing of foliage, turf and humus earth is perfect. You can also use a ready-made mixture, for example "Cactus-plus", "Begonia" or "Senpolia".

Features

These house flowers are considered unpretentious plants, but still each species has its own preferences. For example, the climbing philodendron likes bright lighting, but does not tolerate the sun's rays falling on it. If the room is dark, its leaves are stretched out. On an open balcony this plant can not be exposed even in the summer, as it is afraid of drafts.

The room liana chlorophytum crested requires transplants. The fact is that its roots are rapidly expanding and begin to rest against the walls of the pot. Sometimes the tips of leaves dry out in chlorophytum, which indicates a lack of mineral fertilizers in the soil. In addition, this may mean a lack of space for its rapidly growing roots.

Perhaps the most unpretentious of all is ivy. This room liana, care of which is quite simple and boils down to the fact that its too smartly growing stems have to be cut off permanently. To give the plant the desired shape, you can use flower grids or special bamboo sticks. When using these devices, care must be taken not to damage its root system.

Lighting

As mentioned earlier, variegated indoor lianas (photos), whose names - tseropegiya, tsissus, scindapsus or syngonium, like light, but many of these plants prefer either partial shade or slight shading. When direct sun rays hit the leaves, burns form on them, from which brown spots appear.

In order for the plant to be proportional and to receive sufficient illumination from all sides, it must be turned from time to time, otherwise it will remain forever lopsided. If the flowers need to decorate a dark room, then for this purpose room lianas, whose names - Roicisus, Monstera or Antarctic cissus.

Temperature regime, ventilation, humidification and watering

All of the above parameters are related in one way or another. Ideal conditions for vines are regular airing, moist air, moderate watering and a comfortable temperature.

The room where the plant is located should not be too dry. If the heating system in the apartment overheats the air, it will begin to ache and wilt before your eyes. It should be remembered that lianas like fresh air, but also do not forget about their fear of drafts. The best option is to put flowers on the wall - so they will not blow.

As for the temperature regime, the indoor plant liana will feel comfortable in winter at +16 ° C. If the room is cooler, then you have to turn on the heater, but put it next to the flower is not recommended. In the warm season, the air temperature should not be above 20-23 ° C. When the summer heat comes, the plant is sprinkled with cool water, and in winter - warm.

Over time, the leaves are dusty, which is quite difficult to remove. In fact, this problem can be solved very simply - just once a month to arrange a shower for plants. Otherwise, spider mites can settle on it. Water in the shower should be barely warm, and the water pressure should be made not too strong, so as not to break the shoots and leaves.

House liana flowers are recommended to be watered either in the morning or in the evening and only in case the top layer of the soil dries. Spray the plants in the same regime. In severe heat, this procedure can be done 2 times a day. Do not use cold water, as the root of the loach gets sick and begins to rot. You do not need to moisturize the plant too. Under dense foliage in the ground, water lasts longer.

Pruning and top dressing

Lianas, which have lush forms, it is necessary to periodically cut off the tip above the eye. Most often this is done in the spring, thus getting rid of a third or half of the crown. After this procedure, the places of cuts are sprinkled with powder from charcoal.

Top dressing is necessary during the active growth of loaches. It is carried out once in 2 weeks in the evening, fertilizing the soil with a composition containing potassium and nitrogen. Recently transplanted or weakened plants are not recommended for feeding, they need to be given a chance to get a little stronger. When applying fertilizers, care should be taken to ensure that they do not fall on the leaves in any way, as this may lead to burns.

Formation

Liana - a flower room, so it should serve as an ornament of the interior. The main thing here is not to miss the moment and give the growing windchard the right direction, and also to shape its exterior. To do this, you need to purchase or make the wall or pot support itself. Of course, the plant can also form itself, scrambling up a wall or a rack, but it will be better if the owner takes care of it. Those branches that need to be nibbled are pricked around the apical shoot. After this, the lateral processes begin to break through the plant.

In order to get a long main whip, it is constantly twisted around the installed support in the desired direction and carefully fixed. The room liana, such as passionflower, crawls itself, using the antennae. Control the direction of its progress can be by removing unnecessary whiskers.

Reproduction and rejuvenation

Many types of room loaches, growing up, begin to drop the lower leaves, and most often this occurs after winter. As a result, there is one naked whip with a small bunch of green on the end. In this case, the vine must be rejuvenated. They do this in such a way: the apical stem is cut off along with the leaves and rooted, and the old plant is shortened by almost half so that it becomes branched stronger. After that, the damaged places are treated with a weak solution of manganese. The cut apical stem is put into the water, and it quickly releases roots. The indoor lianas, such as ivy, have aerial roots, so they can immediately be planted in the ground.

The loaches reproduce not only in a vegetative way, but also in seeds. For example, passionflower. But this variant of breeding is not suitable for all plants. Sometimes vines are planted and in such a way as the division of the bush.
