Romantic "Breakfast at Tiffany", included in the classic American comedy

The Breakfast of Tiffany, a romantic film of 1961, long included in classic American comedies, has more fans than ill-wishers who did not like the light-weight atmosphere of the glamorous parties that reigns in the film. Others are annoyed by the sweet words "baby" and "darling", secular formal appeals to each other, generally accepted in the 60's. But the "Moon River", a song performed by Audrey Hepburn at night on the window sill of the attic window, was conquered not only by fans, but also by opponents. Rare American comedies can boast such a successful musical accompaniment, which brought the film awards and continues to live in modern cinema.

Two years after the publication of a small work by T. Kapote (the film bears the same name as the book), published in 1958, one of the largest film companies decided to film it. Initially, the role of the girl Holly with the strange name Golightly intended Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe, but Audrey Hepburn this role came up more. She was paid a record royalty, after which the actress was among the highest paid in Hollywood. In addition, this role became the brightest and most expressive in her career, as Audrey herself later admitted, although comical American comedies with her participation were published for 30 years (from 1951 to 1981).

If we talk briefly about the plot, then the film begins with the fact that in the early morning a yellow taxi approaches the jewelery store on Fifth Avenue in New York. From it comes a brilliant beauty in a small evening black dress from Givenchy (ZHivanshi), she takes out coffee, a roll and stares at the window, breakfasts, going home on foot to sleep after another party. "Tiffany" (unconditional roll call with the famous song of the heroine of Marilyn Monroe about the best friends of the girl), the naive Holly considered the most beautiful and safe place and, if she found the same for life, she would furnish him with furniture and give her red cat a name .

It's Holly, she does not do anything, she knows she's beautiful, and she always takes advantage of this, judging by the situation with the man waiting for her all night in the car. The grief-chevalier gave the young lady money for a hairdresser, paid for the company's drinks to her friends and thought that she had some rights. She often had to get away from the same "pigs" and "rats" (as she called them) through the fire escape, but she still wanted to find a rich husband to continue her carefree life. The fact that money will not replace cares and understanding, will not give freedom and family happiness, she did not want to think. The dream was almost fulfilled, but the candidate turned out to be a coward and a traitor.

Very different, friendly, relationships are tied in the girl with Paul Vorzhak, a new neighbor-writer. Young people have much in common. Both of them are dependents, only Paul, whom Holly calls Fred (after his beloved brother), is a writer. The illusory dream of easy money, for which she will be able to buy a horse farm for her brother, where she will live with him, does not come true (her brother soon perishes). But Paul, who now knows for sure that he is a writer (published a new book), offers her something for what it is worth living for - a ring from Tiffany, sincere love, care and protection. This is so lacking in beauty, but such a vulnerable and insecure girl!

American comedies often turn out to be much more cheerful than books - the basis of the script. Changed not only the tone of the story (in the movie more jokes and funny episodes), but also its ending. By genre, the tape is part of the romantic American comedy, but not devoid of melodramatic charm. The literary analogue ends with the parting of the characters, the film is opposite, by joint searches for the cat and a long promising kiss in the pouring rain. Good old American comedies ... they give the soul a light joy and peace.
