Reservoirs RVS

Probably, there is no industry where, in one form or another, tanks would not be used. What is an RVS reservoir, what is it for and what is it? Let's try to figure it out.

First of all, let's try to define the reservoir as a general type. A tank is a vertical or horizontal container designed to dispense and store both a liquid and a gaseous product. As a material for the production of the tank, steel, reinforced concrete and even RTI are used. The greatest distribution among these materials was steel.

RVS stands for "vertical steel tank". The scope of this type of tank is rather wide (from storage of water to storage of various types of oil products and oils). It should be noted that the appearance of vertical tanks in Russia is inseparably linked with the name of the outstanding Russian engineer-designer VG. Shukhova. It was his project, in 1878 built the first in Russia vertical steel tank. Originally vertical tanks were calculated not a small amount of stored product. However, due to the rapid growth of industrial production and the need for the daily use of ever increasing volumes of natural resources (for example, oil), new requirements have been imposed on the volume of the reservoir aimed at increasing it. In addition, the advantage of larger tanks was also the fact that if you need to preserve the products in comparable volumes, one such tank takes up much less space than a few with a smaller capacity.

Vertical steel tanks are usually divided into three types:

- without pontoon (abbreviated - RVS);

- with a pontoon (abbreviated - RVSP);

- with a floating roof (abbreviated - RVSPK).

The choice of the above types of tanks is carried out depending on the classification of products according to saturated vapor pressure and flash point.

In addition, vertical steel tanks are further divided into the location of ground and underground, as well as the number of chambers (single-chamber and multi-chamber) and the number of walls (single-walled and double-walled).

Vertical steel tanks, both in Russia and abroad, are usually made by two main methods:

1) by the method of sheet assembling - fastening of finished sheets by welding and special equipment is carried out on the construction site;

2) roll method - by means of deployment of the finished roll at the construction site.

More widespread was the method of roll-up, tk. Most of the work is carried out at the tank manufacturer, on special equipment, which increases the quality and strength of welded joints.

The tank itself is not a system ready for use. An important aspect here is equipment. The equipment of the reservoir piping (a common term among the reservoir specialists) includes: electrical equipment (light masts, floodlights and other electrical appliances of the appropriate degree of explosion protection), tank equipment (breathing valves of various types, ventilation nipples, firecrackers, control mechanisms, firebreakers, roller blocks, hinges , Lifting pipes, etc.), structural reservoir devices (hatches, nozzles, etc.), fire fighting equipment (foam generators, ka Etc.), metrological equipment (samplers, floating sampling devices, metro stations, level gauges), drain-fill devices (siphon valves, receiving and dispensing devices, etc.), sediment erosion facilities. Only the availability of a full set of equipment provided by the project, allows the use of the tank for its intended purpose.
