Rare animals of the Red Book of the Ulyanovsk Region

Animals of the Red Data Book of the Ulyanovsk Region are of great interest for modern science, and they are also integral parts of the ecosystem as a whole, therefore the most important task is to preserve those species that are considered to be endangered. In the region, various measures are being taken to conserve flora and fauna.

The Red Book of the Ulyanovsk Region: Animals and Plants

This book is considered an official document containing a complete list with a brief description of all species of animals and plants that are considered to be endangered. To date, this document contains information on 549 species of animals, plants and mushrooms, the preservation of which must be paid special attention.

Of all the plants and animals listed in the Red Data Book of the Ulyanovsk Region, there are 245 species of flora species, 90 species of vertebrates, 156 invertebrates, 25 fungi and 33 species of lichens.

The extinction of such a large number of living things can lead to serious environmental problems, so the regional authorities and Russia as a whole are taking a number of measures to protect and preserve all the species presented in this book.

Red book of the Ulyanovsk region: animals (list)

Next, a short list of rare animals of the Ulyanovsk region, which because of their extremely difficult situation were recorded in the Red Book, will be given:

  1. Tortoise swamp. Refers to a family of freshwater turtles. This animal is of medium size, has a rather long tail (almost 50% of the body length) and developed swimming membranes on the paws

  2. Water too. A family of ghosts. The snake has a length of 70 centimeters to one and a half meters. The upper side of the body of the snake has a rather dark color with impregnations of dark spots, located in staggered order.
  3. A red-necked grebe. Family grebe. Nesting of these birds, as a rule, occurs in temperate and subarctic latitudes of Russia. She swims well and dives, prefers to settle near water.
  4. Steppe harrier. Family of hawks. Relatively small, graceful bird of prey. The main food for the steppe lunia are small rodents (mice, shrews, etc.), in exceptional cases hunting for small birds.
  5. Sonia forest, belonging to the family of snow-covered, is a small mammal, the size of which rarely exceeds 12 centimeters. It is awake at night, settles in the hollows of trees, where it arranges a nest for itself as a squirrel.
  6. Hamster Eversman. Distributed over a vast territory from the river. Volga up to the Chinese province of Xinjiang, but in the Ulyanovsk region is listed in the Red Book, because it is extremely rare.

This is not the whole list of animals in the Red Book of the Ulyanovsk region, but only a small part of it.

Plants

Among the plants of the Ulyanovsk region there are also many such ones that are present in the Red Book. Here are just a few of them:

  1. Adonis (Goricvet) is a spring. Grassy perennial, the distribution area of which is the steppe and forest-steppe zone of temperate latitudes. Less common in the forests and oak forests.
  2. Windy Korzhinsky. Family of buttercups. Occurs in the northern part of the Ulyanovsk region. Also common in the territory of Bashkortostan and Tatarstan.
  3. The birch is squat. It is extremely rare, and only in some places in the region. The height of this shrub reaches one and a half meters.
  4. Peony finelygreen. In the Ulyanovsk region practically does not occur, only in the south of the region in small amounts.

Interesting Facts

For the first time the Red Book of the Ulyanovsk region was published in 2004, then it was reissued in 2008. Finally, in 2015 the third edition was published, which is today the final one.

Reissue of the Red Book every few years is a very important point, which makes it possible to visually evaluate the results of conservation of rare species and the ecological situation that has developed in one or another territory.

Ecological problems

The main environmental problem in the region, as in many other regions of the Russian Federation, is the destruction of the natural habitat of plants and animals of the Red Book of the Ulyanovsk region (a photo of some representatives of the flora and fauna listed in it can be seen in the article).

The development of the steppe zone, deforestation of the forest zone, environmental pollution - all this negatively affects the ecosystem of the region, because of which some animals and plants are on the verge of extinction.

Despite the fact that the authorities of the country and in particular the regions are actively working to preserve the species diversity, the situation as a whole leaves much to be desired. With each reissue of the Red Book, it gets more and more species, which indicates a negative tendency to preserve living beings.

Conclusion

Protection of living creatures, inhabiting the territories where people live, is one of the priority tasks not only of the government and public organizations, but of all mankind as a whole. Only by joint efforts it is possible to shift the current situation to a more favorable side.

Plants and animals of the Red Book of the Ulyanovsk region are a confirmation. After all, if all species introduced into it suddenly disappear at once, then a real ecological catastrophe will occur that will affect not only our smaller brothers but also the people themselves. The consequences can only be imagined, since it is difficult to predict what impact such a blow will bring to nature.

Therefore, it is necessary to preserve and protect all animals, plants, mushrooms on our planet. Fortunately, most people understand this and take measures to preserve them.
