A couple of tips, how to lower the ping in "Contra"

Ping is the speed of data exchange between computers. It is measured in milliseconds. For example, if you press the "tab" key in the game "Counter Strike" (in common parlance "Contra"), you can see the numbers opposite to your nickname - for example, 150. This means that your computer with the server is exchanging information in fifteen tenths of a second. In principle, this is not bad, but it is empirically verified that this is a ping ceiling for a normal game. If the figure is higher, it is worth switching to another server or lowering the ping. Why? Yes, just after 150 milliseconds, the "matrix" begins. Players move in jerks, it's very difficult for you to hit them, and they can shoot around the corner for you - it's not cheating. When you see yourself already gone around the corner, the server draws you only suitable to the corner. Therefore ping, especially high, affects the game more than it seems.

In this article, we'll look at some of the tools and tricks in the game that were created in order to lower the ping in "CS"

So, how to lower the ping.

To begin with, standard advice.

1) Ping basically depends on the physical location of the server. The further it is, the longer the signal goes. Therefore, try to choose servers from your region.

2) Ping is also very dependent on the load on your Internet channel. If its bandwidth is small, then before the game just turn off the downloads or programs that actively consume traffic.

If it does not work, we think next. The enemy must be known in person, so we enter the command net_graph 3. It will display a small window with a sea of useful information about your connection:

1) FPS - frames per second.

2) Loss - shows the number of packets that were lost during the transfer from the server to you. The most basic reason for this problem is the small speed of your incoming channel, which is less than the server outgoing channel. To fix it, in most cases it's enough just to "tell" the server about it.

3) Choke - shows how many packets of information your computer can not transfer to the server. The most common reason for this is a busy connection channel or slow Internet.

Since you can not lower the ping without editing these parameters, let's look at how to adjust them. With the losse, you can use the cl_updaterate command. The logic is simple - if the loss is absent, then increase the parameter to reduce the ping, and if present, reduce.

Recommended values:

The allocated line is 50-100, the local area is 100.

With chowk, we deal with the same scheme, only with the cl_cmdrate command.

Recommended values:

The allocated line is 65-100, the local area is 100.

How to lower the ping using these parameters, we have already figured out. Now is the time of "shamanistic" advice. Sometimes the game itself can brake. It can happen for a number of reasons, so do the following:

1) Try in the task manager to experiment with the priority of the game itself. In the "processes" tab, select hl.exe, then "PKM" on it, and in the pop-up window, select the priority.

2) "Weave" the left modes, models, sprites, etc. If you do not know how to do this, reinstall the game in a different folder.

3) Update DirectX

4) Turn on vertical sync.

In general, these tips should help.

Now you know how to lower the ping in "CS". We wish you a successful game and more headshots!
