Railings in the kitchen: design, main types and features of the installation

Railings in the kitchen were probably invented by very practical people, because their use, on the one hand, allows you to save space in this room, and on the other - it makes it possible to easily put things in order in small kitchen utensils. Thanks to this useful invention, all commonly used objects are always visible, and it is only necessary to reach out to quickly get the thing you need at the moment.

Construction, finishing and materials

The very word "rail" in English means rails or rails. Actually, this part is usually presented in the form of a crossbar with a diameter of 1.5 to 2 cm and is the main part of the railing system. The whole construction consists of a tube inserted into special holders, which, in turn, can be attached to any vertical surface. Reilings in the kitchen are produced in different lengths, but their dimensions do not create any special difficulties: if necessary, the rail can always be sawed, and the ends closed with special decorative caps. For a corner space, there are systems of bent tubes. Now tell you about what makes railing for the kitchen. Chromium and nickel deposited on steel are found most often, but at the same time brass models are also found. As a coating in prestigious systems, precious metals are used, including gold.

Types and equipment

All rails in the kitchen can be divided into two large groups: horizontal and vertical. The latter are most often used in kitchens of island or peninsular type. On such systems are installed rotating shelves, where you can place anything. The difference between horizontal and vertical rails is only in the features of installation. S-shaped hooks, metal mesh shelves, holders for foil, paper towels and polyethylene film, fixing magnets for knives and other useful accessories are used as hinged elements.

Where and how to hang a rail in the kitchen

Usually devices of this type are installed in the apron area (the so-called wall space between the upper and lower kitchen cabinets). Sometimes the railing in the kitchen is hung in front or at the end of the countertop. Even less often they are fixed on the hood of the hood, so that they hang just under the ceiling. As for the installation, you can handle it yourself. First, marking is done in the planned installation sites using the building level. Then, self-tapping screws are selected (if those that are included in the kit do not fit), small holes in the wall are drilled and final assembly is performed. The features of the installation depend on the type of railing, but at the same time, there are several general rules:

  1. The choice of fasteners depends on the material of the wall. When installing, it is advisable to consider the possibility of removal.
  2. Railings in the kitchen should hang securely. If the hostess, when preparing food, pulls heavily for a towel or even for an item, the system must withstand such a load.
  3. If the length of the device exceeds 100 cm, then the mount must be installed in at least three locations.
  4. If the rails are several, it is recommended to stick to the symmetry during installation.
  5. When mounting, the holders are positioned so that the screws are in a position in which they are not visible.
