Raglan knitting from the neck: calculation. Knitting pattern of sweater with raglan

The art of knitting arose long ago. An inquisitive human mind, dating back to ancient times, in the nature of plant interweaving, applied this knowledge to its own good for the invention of the great craft of knitted garment afterwards.

Nowadays, the practical importance of knitted things has changed and expanded so much that otherwise, as an art, manual work is not called. Knitting with knitting needles is a huge segment in the total scope of the tools and tools of this unique craft. And we will understand today with such a part of it, as knitting with the spokes of the Raglan model.

Raglan: what is this?

Let's start with the definition. The history of fashion attributes the name "raglan" to a special type of sleeve cut, drawn together with the shoulder part of the shelf and the back of the article, to British commander Baron Reaglan, who, after losing his hand at the Battle of Waterloo, wore clothes sewn according to this principle. So he masked the lack of a hand. Nobody knows if this trick helped him, but the term "raglan" has taken root and since that time it has been such a cut.

Raglan in knitted goods

This kind of clothing is comfortable in many respects: it makes the shoulders soft, the absence of a seam excludes the possibility of wetting the product when it hits the rain. Not only seamstresses appreciated the principles of building such a sleeve. Knitters also long ago took it into service.

The scheme of knitting a raglan sweater is simple and convenient. There are two ways of this knitting - from below and from above. Starting work from the bottom of the gum is probably more understandable for beginner needlewomen, but the correct calculation of the knitting of raglan from above gives you the opportunity to learn a faster and more economical way of knitting, and will also allow the knitter to significantly improve the level of mastery.

Raglan knitting from above: advantages

Getting started from the neck has many advantages:

  • The absence of seams, which becomes particularly important in the manufacture of children's clothing;
  • Significant time savings on the stitching of parts;
  • The possibility of changing the length in one direction or another, if there is such a need;
  • Circular knitting of raglan with knitting needles requires a small number of thread ends, and the dissolution of the product will subsequently give a thread that is quite suitable for a new job.

Disadvantages of the method

The lack of knitting by raglan is considered by many to be the large number of loops participating in the work (we consider knitting without a seam in a circle), and also some limitations in the choice of patterns - not all of them are comfortable or even possible in circular knitting.

However, with the acquisition of necessary skills and the use of simple tools and tools, the skilled worker quickly gets used to not noticing these inconveniences in work, since knitting raglan from above is a fascinating handicraft.

Tools and accessories

For convenient and comfortable workflow the following tools are needed:

  • Circular knitting needles. It is desirable to have several pairs, differing in numbers and length of the line. The beginning of work and the elastic of the neck of the "sweater-raglan" model with knitting needles usually tends to be small, in the future you will need to switch to larger tools.
  • A set of stocking knitting needles (for knitting sleeves by a seamless method).
  • Markers for marking sleeves, shelves and backrests.
  • Counter rows (not always required, but with circular knitting is often necessary).

Raglan knitting from the neck: calculation of the loop test

Before you begin to make a model, you must calculate the loop test. For this, a sample of the chosen pattern is knit from 35 to 40 loops 12-14 cm in height. It must "lie down", since knitted fabrics tend to change in size. You can wet it, dry it and steam it off. After that, calculate the density of knitting, i.e. By simple measurements superimposed ruler learn how many loops and rows are contained in one centimeter of the bound fabric.

A smaller measurement error is allowed if they are produced in the square by 10 cm sides. Then the indices are divided by 10, so they get more reliable information about how many rows and loops it contains in 1 cm of the picture chosen for the future model.

Since such a procedure is necessary, many professional knitters use a template that can be made by hand, cutting out a square of 20 cm from dense cardboard or plastic. In the middle of the workpiece, cut out another square with sides equal to 10 cm. It turns out an original frame. It is superimposed on the pattern. Counting the loops and rows entering the template, and then dividing them into 10, you can quickly find out the necessary information. For example, the knitting density of our loop test was 2.5 loops per 1 cm. In the height of the sample in 1 cm - 3 rows.

Calculation of throat length

Raglan knitting with knitting needles from above provides a correct calculation of the length of the neck. The density of knitting we have already established, then we measure the circumference of the neck. According to accepted Russian standards, a female sweater of the 48th size has a neck length (or neck circumference) equal to 36 cm. The measurement of the person's neck, for which a future product is made, is necessary, and according to accepted standards, the measurements can be adjusted.

So, the neck circumference is 36 cm. Considering the calculated density - 2.5 loops per 1 cm, we find the number of loops necessary for the beginning of knitting - 2.5 x 36 cm = 90 loops.

Calculating the throat loops by segments

A correctly calculated number of loops determines the successful knitting of raglan from the neck. The calculation is very important, but it should be borne in mind that the neckline of the backrest is substantially higher than the notch of the neck. That is why the easiest way to analyze loops is based on the percentage: 44-45% of the total number of loops falls on the neck of the transmission, 34-35% on the neck of the back and 10-11% on each shoulder.

It must be remembered that before calculating loops by segments, you should subtract loops from the total number of loops (90), which will be directly ragged lines. There are four such lines. If the line is planned to be one loop, the total number of loops decreases by 4 (1 x 4 = 4 loops), respectively, rails in 2 loops each reduce the total number of loops of the neck by 8 (2 x 4 = 8 loops).

In our example, each line of raglan consists of 2 loops, so the total number of throat loops for calculation by segments is 82 (90 - 8 = 82 loops). This will be the initial number for the calculation:

• transfer 82 x 44% = 36 loops;

• Backrest 82 x 34% = 28 loops;

• shoulder segments 82 x 11% = 9 loops per piece.

Beginning of work

We begin knitting. The "raglan" sweater can be started with the execution of the neck gum, but it is better to tie it after the whole product is connected. So, we type on the spokes of 90 loops in any way that provides a non-stretchable elastic edge.
We wire the auxiliary row with the face loops and combine knitting into a circle. We make the marking of the future railing lines and the central loop of the transmission. For this, we use markers, English pins or strings of contrasting shades, i.e. Any convenient device. The left ragged line will be considered the beginning of the series.

Erosion of the sprout

For a good planting of the future product knitting raglan with knitting needles begins with the cutting out of the sprout, i.e. Increase the height of the backrest by partial knitting and level the number of hinges of the neck of the back to the number of loops involved in knitting the neck of the gear. So, we knit a raglan with knitting needles. The scheme is as follows:

The first row (front) is tied on the back from the left to the right line of raglan. The cut-off lines are tied in this way - the cape, 2 facial, and the third one is removed with a wrap around to avoid the appearance of a hole on the canvas. Then we turn the work and tie the purl series, ending it like this: we remove the looped loop, we sew 2 loops, a cape, two loops of the raglan line.

The second increase in the rag-line is picked up from the broach and we extend the partial knitting by tying 2 loops, the third is peeled off. So 8 rows continue, each series of partial knitting adds 3 loops, resulting in the same number of loops of the gear and back. From the next row into partial knitting, the hinges also enter, the knitting continues in the same vein, gradually and gently adding 3 loops in each row. The eighteenth row is the last in partial knitting. From the nineteenth row, we make full circles of knitting, adding in each facial row a dressing from both sides of the straight line, and in each of the opposite ones, knitting them.

The initial partial knitting of raglan from the neck, the calculation of which only at first glance seems complicated, is important for a quality planting of the future product. In order not to confuse the rows, we use the counter. Thus we knit on the height of the armhole.

Unscrewing the body of the product

Raglan with knitting needles, the pattern of which is simple, is 30-32 cm. This length of the standard lines is standard for a 48-size female sweater . You can measure the height of the armhole and, multiplying by the number of rows of 1 cm, check with the standard. The error will also be eliminated by fitting: the lines of the raglan of both halves must meet under the mouse. Having knitted the necessary number of rows in the "sweater-raglan" model with knitting needles, we proceed to forming the case of the product.

For additional spokes (and preferably a line or thread), hinge sleeves are removed, distributing the loops of the raglan lines proportionally between all the details. The next series unites all the loops of the gear and the backrest and knit to a certain length in a circle, no longer making an increase.

If you want to make a sweater more feminine, in the figure, you can pritalize the product, making calculations of the reduction to the waist line and the addition to the line of the thighs. Losses and increases are made along the seam line. The work is finished with an elastic band.

Sleeves

It's easier to knit sleeves in straight rows, but if you want to see them as seamless as a body, then it's more comfortable to work on stocking knitting needles, not forgetting to decorate the bevels, i.e. Do a reduction in every sixth row along the line of an imaginary seam.

As soon as the sleeve is tied to the cuff, begin to knit an elastic band 2x2 from two facial on the line of adjustments. It should not be strongly delayed. After the first two facial knit one purl, the next purl is tied from the broach, continuing this algorithm. The second sleeve is knit by analogy with the first.

Design of the product gate

As the sleeves are ready, it remains to tie the collar of the sweater. All the loops of the neck are transferred to the spoke. The first additional row is neatly removed. Picking up the loops for knitting gum, make the same increases as in the sleeves of the sleeve, i.e. Each second purline rises from the broach of the previous row. The height of the collar is also strictly individual, or corresponds to the chosen sweater model.

Ways of regal line design

In our example, we used the simplest Raglan line, consisting of 2 face loops. Often ragged lines are a magnificent decorative finish. There are a lot of variants of their knitting: they can be intricate braids, stylized shorts and cascades of holes. Additions with the help of nakidov can also be tied in different ways. The crossed loop does not form a hole, and tying the cap over a simple loop forms a line of holes along the raglan.

So, the article presents the most simple scheme of knitting raglan. Nevertheless, even the most experienced masters use this principle of model building in their works. Note that such a method as knitting raglan from the neck, the calculation of which is fairly simple, opens many opportunities for decorating the model - from choosing the pattern to the elegant design of the neckline and raglan lines. The discovery of this method of pattern building not only diversified the art of clothing production, but also elevated it to a higher level of development, feeding the amazing ideas of knitting masters.
