PVS cable: features and applications

Cable PVS is a copper flexible wire, the functional purpose of which, as a rule, is household. The structure of its veins is multiwire. The main advantage of this type of cable, compared to others, is its high flexibility. In particular, according to the state standard, according to this characteristic veins are assigned the fifth class. Given the high degree of resistance to all kinds of mechanical loads and deformations, such an indicator can be called very good.

Wire Insulation

PVS-cable has two layers of insulation: external and internal. The role of the material for their production is polyvinyl chloride plastic. They differ from one another in color and their geometric characteristics. Each of the veins is twisted in a spiral and has additional protection in the form of a thin layer of PVC. As for external insulation, it is filled with voids between the veins. Its important value, in addition, is to provide a round shape. It is this structure that determines the basic mechanical properties that the PVS cable can boast. An outer durable PVC layer protects its veins from damage and deformation, and the use of copper guarantees a high degree of strength.

The shell of each of the veins has its own color. The standard colors are blue, brown, yellow-green, black and red. This is done to ensure compliance with international standards, which are set to designate zero and phase conductors of wires. It should be noted an important feature of insulation of the cord, which consists in the fact that it does not spread combustion.

Main applications

Very often the PVS cable is used to provide connection of various portable devices, which can act as small home appliances, as well as more powerful devices - industrial installations or electric stoves. This is due to the fact that the wire has a rather wide range of sections, which is in the range from 0.75 to 16 millimeters square. It should be noted that for each of them a cable having two, three, four or five wires is produced. This allows you to connect it to both single-phase and three-phase voltage. The use of this cord is not limited to lengthening alone. The PVS cable is often used in the form of internal wiring, as well as for the installation of industrial, household and outlet networks, even despite its seemingly not very convenient form for these purposes. The main thing is not to forget that the wires during installation must necessarily be inserted into the appropriate clamps or crimped using cable lugs.

Temperature conditions

The PVS cable, the characteristics of which have been described above, is manufactured in three versions with respect to the temperature regime. The "U" marking indicates that its use is allowed when the thermometer column shows from 40 degrees below zero to 40 degrees Celsius. In all other cases, the temperature should be at least minus 25 degrees. As for the life of this wire, it is equal to 6 years, and when operating it under stationary conditions it is about 10 years.
