The patriarchal bridge has a style of traditional architecture of the XIX century. In its canvas are inserted lamps, which create in the evening unusual lighting. History

Pedestrian Patriarchal Bridge was built on the project of architects and artists ZK Tsereteli, MM Posokhin, as well as engineers A. Kolchin and O. Chemerinsky. The bridge was opened in September 2004 and became one of the favorite places for Muscovites and tourists. It received its name in honor of the Russian patriarch Alexander II. Then, when the bulk of the production of the Krasny Oktyabr confectionery was moved from the territory of the Bersenevskaya Embankment, the stylobate bridge part was completed. In this way the Patriarchal bridge was built. The grand opening of the new part took place on the first Saturday of September 2007 - this day was celebrated the Day of the City of Moscow.

Geographical location

Rightly considered one of the most beautiful places in the city, a bridge 203 meters long passes over the famous river called Moscow. The Patriarchal Bridge consists of three-span structures and is located opposite the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. The first branch of the bridge goes through the Moscow River, connecting Prechistenskaya embankment with Bersenevskaya. The second stylobate part is located above the drainage channel and passes through the Bolotny Island to the Yakimanskaya embankment. Such a design position does not interfere with the normal movement of transport and allows for good navigation of ships. In the near future, it is planned to finish the overpass, along which it will be possible to pass to the Great Yakimanka.

Not far from the bridge are such sights: the famous museum "The House on the Embankment", the majestic Cathedral of Christ the Savior and the profitable house of Pertsov.

How to get there?

The bridge structure is located in Moscow at: ul. Volkhonka, Patriarchal Bridge. How to get to this landmark? There are three options: on your own car, on a taxi or on your own, that is, using public transport. To travel by private car, it is more convenient to use a map or navigator. It should be noted that the bridge is located in the heart of the city, so the traffic is dense, and it is difficult to find a parking place nearby. It is more reasonable to leave the transport far away and walk on foot.

The simple way is to get there by taxi. You can call a car from any taxis park, since in Moscow every taxi driver knows where the Patriarchal Bridge is located.

For those who decided to come their own way, it is necessary to familiarize themselves with the location of this landmark on the map. The most convenient way to get there by yourself is to use the metro. The nearest station, from which you can quickly pass to the bridge, is Kropotkinskaya. It is located on the red Sokolnicheskaya branch of the Moscow Metro. Having reached this station, it is necessary to pay attention to the signs placed at the exit to the city. There is a direct exit from the metro to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. This is the shortest and most convenient way. After walking about 1 minute on foot, you can be near the temple. Then you need to get around it and go directly to the bridge from the gate. And even if the pointer is not found, then you can exit through any of several exits into the city. After leaving the metro, it is possible to see the temple from every point and walk to it.

You can make a more picturesque path along the embankment or street of the old city, coming out at the metro station "Park Kultury". In this case it is better to use a map, navigator or ask passers-by. This walk will allow you to see more beautiful places in Moscow.

It was in this place, for the first time in Moscow, was the tradition of the newlyweds to fasten the "lock of love" and throw the key into the river. It is believed that such a marriage will be strong. On the fences you can see a huge number of different castles: with names and nameless, large and small, ordinary and elegant.

The bridge was used by the directors of the film "Love in the City". On it the most trembling moments were removed. Several times (from 2008 to 2011) in this place were recorded the New Year's greetings of the President to the people of Russia.
