In 2006, at the Olympic Games, held in Turin, Olga touched a doping scandal. The athlete was confident of victory, when she won a silver medal at the individual races at a distance of fifteen kilometers. Two days after the victory, the doctors announced the results of the doping tests.

They turned out to be positive. In the body of a sportswoman, an increased content of phenotropil, a prohibited preparation for these competitions, was found. A repeated test confirmed the presence of carphedon. In Russia it is called phenotropil. Olga Medvedtseva was immediately suspended from participation in the Olympic Games and disqualified for 2 years.

Olga's silver automatically passed to the German athlete Martina Glagov. Accordingly, the bronze went to Albina Akhatova. Olga really took phenotropil. He was appointed athlete physician, Nina Vinogradova.
