Then Globocnik left work in Lublin. Odilo was appointed to the senior leadership of the SS and the police of the Adriatic coast. Globocnik's main task was to fight the partisans.

At the very end of the war, as soon as the allied forces approached, Odilo fled to Austria, to Carinthia. Together with the surprised colleagues I went up to the mountains and tried to stay there. For some time Globocnik sheltered in an alpine house, but for a long time it was impossible to hide. In 1945, together with Ernst Lerch, his adjutant, Odilo was arrested by the British.
