New fantasies from Lexus: a skateboard on a magnetic field

All the people with a sinking heart expected the onset of the fall of 2015, because it was this time described in the cult film of the nineties "Back to the Future", where the protagonist traveled in time.

In the film, various inventions were described, which people used with might and main in 2015, and, naturally, everyone would like to see these inventions appear in reality for the onset of the long-awaited moment. One of the most anticipated new products was a hoverboard - a board that looked like a skateboard, which used a magnetic field to levitate above the ground. Has such a vehicle appeared by 2015? The answer is positive - the car brand Lexus has made sure that the dreams of the generation of the nineties become a reality.

Hoverboard presentation

The Japanese automobile brand Lexus impressed everyone by demonstrating the anticipated hoverdord, which allows a person to move around on the board without touching the ground, due to the action of magnetic fields. Earlier, in 2015, the company reported that it plans to release such a vehicle, released several previews - and already towards the end of the year Lexus Hoverboard was withdrawn in action. For this purpose, a special skate park was created, which corresponded to all the conditions necessary for movement on the hoverboard.

Project work

Executive Vice President of the company Lexus told a little about the project, which has already stirred the public. Accepting for the implementation of this project, the company has made a bold move aimed at expanding the modern boundaries of high technology, design and innovation. Inside the company, this project was called Slide, and not only Lexus people worked on it, but also other partners who share the company's desire to innovate, and to make the movement a real pleasure. As it was said before, for the first time the concept of such a vehicle was presented in the cult film "Back to the Future", and now it is gradually approaching reality - just at the time that was stated in the film. The same can be said about other inventions - for example, this year Nike plans to launch a line of self-lacing shoes, which was also presented in the film described above.

Features of the invention

As for the hoverboard itself, it has the form of an ordinary skateboard, but only a wheelless one-and with a deeper profile. It is based on two cryostats, that is, two chambers that are designed to contain a superconducting material at minus 197 degrees Celsius using liquid nitrogen. At such a low temperature, the material literally pushes out a magnetic field that collides with another magnetic field emitted by the coating of the skate park. This is what ensures hoverboard flying in the air. The magnetic field of the tracks effectively interacts with the "frozen" superconductors, while maintaining a sufficient distance between the board and the surface. The total strength is so great that an adult can not just stand on the board, but even jump on it.

Testing and demonstration

As it was said before, the Lexus hoverboard was announced earlier this year, but only at the end of summer it was time to test it in the field, and at the same time to demonstrate its capabilities to the whole world. For this purpose, more than 200 meters of a special track was created - the magnetic surface was laid under the asphalt of the skatepark in Barcelona, where an advertising video was shot. In it, you can see people who quietly glide over the ground a few centimeters away, using a hoverboard. Although the Lexus Hoverboard is the most advanced and innovative of all developments in this field, this hoverboard is not the first. For example, in 2012 a group of designers created a skateboard with an eight-wheel system that allows you to move around the most difficult surfaces - for example, without problems climbing the stairs.

Naturally, this is not a hoverboard, but it should be noted that the invention is also extremely progressive and interesting. Well, people can only expect when Lexus will complete the development stage and release its hoverboard so that everyone can try and buy it.
