Nationality is that. How to identify a nationality

In today's world, the question is quite acute: "Is nationality a political, social or biological concept?" Before talking about nationality, it is necessary to get acquainted with the accompanying terms.

People. Ethnos. Nation

The people - the "new race", the "born race" of people united by one common territory, is a fundamental concept in our topic. From the definition it is clear that this is an exclusively biological term - people who have a close relationship.

Ethnos is a people, that is, over time a group of people who have one language (belong to one language group) and a common origin, roots, but not geographically, formed from close peoples.

A nation is a people with their common history of development, culture, customs. If one nation creates its own national state, it will be called a nation. Thus, this is a more aggressive, political concept. A nation can include several close national groups.

Nationality is ...

Nationality refers to a nation on biological grounds. It has no connection with the country or a particular territory. For example, Germans, Kazakhs or Englishmen who live permanently in Russia - their nationality remains the same with the change of residence, state. Without nationality (a characteristic of kinship between people) there will be no development of the people, it will not become a nation.

Now practically all states are multinational, although there are separate national republics.

It is important not to confuse citizenship and nationality. The first concept - social, means, to the society of which country the individual belongs. The second, as can be seen from the definition, is biological and shows who is a man by birth, descent.

Although in some countries the word "nationality" is still a definition of a state belonging to an individual.

Nationality

The people are the smallest unit in today's discussion, literally one can take this word as a kind, a family. In the course of their development, the families (tribes) grew, divided, merged with their neighbors. But since they had common roots, and life went on in interaction with each other, territorial proximity, then gradually formed common, similar features, so strong genetically that were passed on to offspring regardless of time and distance - the nationality of peoples or the people's nationality.

So, if you look at the Germans, for example: non-Jameson Germans, Franconians, Saxons, Schwabs, Bavarians - that's how many subethnoses (peoples) belong to one nationality of people.

The Russians have about thirty ethnic groups throughout Russia and beyond. And only two dialects - North Russian (scuttling) and South Russian (shrouding).

How to identify a nationality

It would seem, which is simpler. He lives in Germany, father - German, mother - German, he is also a German! But the way of mankind on Earth is already quite long. Everything was mixed-nations, ethnic groups, nations ... It is very difficult to determine the person's belonging to a particular nationality. Especially when the Pope has Poles and Jews in the family, and his mother Spaniards and Finns, but live all in Australia.

There are several ways:

  1. The nationality of the child is from the father. Father from his father, and thus a fairly well-formed family line (national) lines. This happens almost everywhere, except for a few nations. For Jews, for example, a child assumes the mother's nationality.
  2. Some folk groups have very bright, similar external signs. Body structure or character traits. According to such signs, people are considered to be one or another nationality.
  3. People who do not have the opportunity to know the nationality of their ancestors (orphans, for example) take or take in the process of education, maturation of the features of the national group with which they interact most (adoptive parents or orphanage workers).
  4. The most basic method has two interrelated processes of definition - subjective and objective. The first is what nationality a person attributes to himself: what he observes traditions, has features of appearance and character, the bearer of which language he is. The second is how his congeners perceive it. That is, do people identify the chosen national group of this person with them. Thus, the nationality is a personal consciousness and the surrounding agreement with the fact that a person belongs (is related by kinship) to a group of people (peoples, ethnic groups).
