Museum of steam locomotives in Novosibirsk. The Museum of Steam Locomotives at the Riga Railway Station

In this city one of the most famous "vaults of antiquity" is located. The museum of steam locomotives in Novosibirsk is quite impressive (about three kilometers of unique exhibits of trains, cars and other symbols of this subject).

It collected a significant collection (over 100 exhibits) of locomotives, electric locomotives, diesel locomotives and wagons, which mainly worked on the West Siberian Railways. In addition, the Novosibirsk Museum of Railway Engineering. NA Akulinina (official name) has in its collection such Soviet brands of cars as "Moskvich", GAZ, ZAZ (different year of release) and several models of tractors, trucks and all-terrain vehicles.

History of creation

In 1996, a significant amount of railway equipment was assembled on the experimental ring of JSC VNIIZhT. In this regard, the main department of the locomotive economy put forward a proposal for the creation of an appropriate museum. Subsequently, the collection of various railway exhibits began, and in August 2000 the museum of steam locomotives was officially opened. It was named in honor of the creator and the very first director - Nikolai Akulinin.

The first exhibit of the museum

Immediately near the entrance there is a prototype of the Cherepanovs' locomotive engine. Yefim and Miron built the first land steamer (the old name of the locomotive) at one of the Nizhny Tagil factories (Vyisky Plant). So 1834 was marked by the appearance of the first locomotive in the Russian Empire. In addition to the cargo of 3.5 tons, he could carry 40 more passengers.

Unique models of the museum's collection

One of such unique exhibits is the tank-locomotive of the firm "Borzig". It was built in the XIX-XX centuries. in Germany. This model did not have a tender, so the fuel and water reserves were stored on the locomotive itself in special tanks (tanks) located on the sides of the central steam boiler.

Also, the model of the cargo locomotive ЛВ-0040 is presented to the attention of tourists. It was manufactured at the Voroshilovgrad locomotive plant in the 50's. The last century.

The museum of steam locomotives in Novosibirsk demonstrates the model of the cargo locomotive of the E-789. Series E was quite in demand, as a result of which its mass production was carried out. Locomotives were among the often ordered models for the urgent replenishment of the locomotive fleet. It can be said that these locomotives survived three wars in the production stage. Manufacturing took place in eight countries of the world, where 32 plants were involved. This model has become the most numerous among domestic locomotives.

Typically, black color painted cargo locomotives, and passenger - painted green or blue. They look very old, but they are only about 60-70 years old.

What other exhibits are included in the collection?

Along with the prototypes of locomotives and individual wagons, there is a large number of railway equipment. For example, a very significant size tank, designed to transport liquid iron.

Also, the museum of steam locomotives has such a unique exhibit as a 16-axle mixer with a lifting capacity of 150 tons, created in 1974.

You can see the model of a mechanized railcar TD-5 (a six-seater open self-propelled transport vehicle used to deliver / transport railroads of tools, mechanisms, various materials and workers).

A platform intended for repair and maintenance of the contact network, as well as a pit digger and an icebreaker, are presented to tourists.

Retro cars as exhibits of the museum collection

There are military jeeps, half-Jeeps, ZIS-5. And also "Dodge WC51", which since 1942 was supplied to the USSR. It is known that he was called in the Red Army "Dodge three quarters" (in view of the fact that he had a carrying capacity of 750 kg).

There is also a mini tractor of white color, made at the Kharkov Tractor Plant.

The Novosibirsk Museum of Steam Locomotives allows you to see GAZ cars:

1. GAZ-51 - Soviet truck, which was produced massively. Serial production began in 1946, but the first samples were collected before the Great Patriotic War. The total output numbered about 3.5 million copies of various modifications. With the use of Soviet drawings, he also gathered in China, and in Korea, and in Poland.

2. GAZ-63A - Soviet four-wheel drive truck. It was produced for 20 years (1948-1968 gg.).

3. Zil-157 is a Soviet-era car with a number of nicknames: Poltergeist, Babai, Semechka, Crocodile, Zakhar, Bents, Truman, Kolun, Stupa, "Mormon". And in Bulgaria he was nicknamed "Jogan", in Ukraine - "Kabanchik", in Lithuania - "Sheshyakoyis crocodilas". In the Magadan Region, Yakutia, Kamchatka and Chukotka, the car in question was called "Zurs" or "Crab". His cabin looked like an iron, so in the north-west it was called "Iron." It is also known that among the hunters of the Central Federal District, namely Ryazanshchina, this car, which has a unified zero body size (KUNG), acquired the nickname "Zenzubel".

These are not the last exhibits of this museum.

The Museum of Steam Locomotives at the Riga Railway Station

It was opened in 2004 and is devoted to the history of railway equipment directly from the Moscow railway. More often you can hear another name - the Museum of steam locomotives on the Riga Square.

On the platform under the open sky locomotives and locomotives of different year of manufacture and different epoch are installed. These are the ancient representatives of railway technology, and their modern descendants.

The museum of steam locomotives at the Riga railway station provides an opportunity for its visitors to climb inside certain exhibits and even twist the levers in them, to some models a ladder is put up for the convenience of tourists.

On the adjoining territory of the museum you can see a steam locomotive of quite impressive dimensions, which is painted black. It emits smoke and hisses, as it is active. You can ride on it. Its components are a locomotive, which belongs to the E series with license plate number 774-38, and two modern cars.

Also here you can see both diesel locomotives and snow-removal equipment. There are also special cars, for example, sanitary, which was operated during the Great Patriotic War.

He began to operate since 1813. Especially for him was erected in 1902 building.

Here you will find a very rich collection of everything that is connected with railway transport: locomotives, trains, cars, construction machines and auxiliary items intended for the uninterrupted movement of trains. It is worth noting that the museum of steam locomotives in St. Petersburg has unique exhibits. His exhibition models were exhibited at large international exhibitions in a number of major cities, such as, for example, Paris (1900).

Why is this museum called a teaching aid?

Because the vast majority of visitors are students. They visit the museum of steam locomotives in St. Petersburg in order to gain practical knowledge regarding railways and trains. Also, with him there is a club of lovers for everyone.

In the building of the museum only 3% of all models are exhibited, but its employees compensate it more than 10 times a year for events and exhibitions in universities and schools.

Where else in Russia is a collection of steam locomotives assembled?

I paid tribute to the history of railway transport and the city of Pereslavl-Zalessky. The museum of steam locomotives there is located near a small village. It contains exhibits from different eras. Compositions with wagons (passenger and cargo) are installed on rails, and directly under the open sky.

Also there you can see snowplow models. There is even an artifact made entirely of wood.

From Moscow along the Yaroslavl highway about 100 km to the city of Pereslavl-Zalessky. The museum of steam locomotives is very famous in those places. It also has covered hangars, where other railway equipment is assembled.

In the museum you can see the room where the old station equipment was preserved, and in another room, to the smallest detail, the interior of the comon-room of the duty officer is reproduced.

Military and agricultural equipment is also on display for tourists.

Museum of narrow-gauge railway in Warsaw

Here is shown a huge collection of narrow-gauge rail vehicles: over 100 locomotives, electric locomotives and diesel locomotives, cars and rail cars.

The most interesting exhibits are:

  • The carriage of Józef Piłsudski;
  • Trolley bus "Warsaw";
  • Military salon-car;
  • Railroad car;
  • Platforms for the rapid transport of ammunition;
  • Old Polish narrow-gauge locomotives (1882-1883).

It is these exhibits that Warsaw is famous for. The museum of steam locomotives there has two exposition halls, in which old photographs, models, tickets, railway uniforms, documents, seals and lanterns are placed.

What does the museum of railway equipment in Rostov-on-Don look like?

It contains such exhibits as steam locomotives of pre-war, postwar production, diesel locomotives, electric locomotives, cranes and special equipment.

A very important role for the city was played by this railway museum of locomotives. Rostov-na-Donu thanks to him became very popular with foreign tourists.

In his collection there is even such an exhibit as a captured German locomotive. And on some models you can see dents from bullets. It is also interesting to look at pre-war wagons, among which there is a refrigerator, fuel tanks, wagons, employees for transportation and goods, and infantry, as well as a special wagon - the headquarters of the North Caucasus Military District.

Railway Museum in Nizhny Novgorod

Another famous museum of steam locomotives. Nizhny Novgorod (Kanavinskiy district) presented in 1996 the attention of residents and tourists of this "treasury of ancient railway equipment." This fairly small museum of ancient steam locomotives is located near the lake (Sortyrovochny settlement).

Exhibits gathered in his collection since 1993. There you can see fifteen ancient locomotives, each of which has its own interesting history. The museum shows domestic, German and Swedish technology: industrial, freight and, of course, passenger locomotives.

So, the old collection of railway equipment has also St. Petersburg, and Moscow, and Nizhny Novgorod, and Pereslavl-Zalessky, and Warsaw. The museum of steam locomotives is a place where you can travel in the old days and enjoy the historical value of each exhibit.
