Mysticism - this is what?

Many people believe that mysticism is something inexplicable, inaccessible to understanding of human consciousness. However, this word has several meanings that differ significantly from each other.

Misticism and religion

In its original sense, mysticism is a kind of religious practice, the purpose of which is to achieve unity with the higher mind, as well as a set of rules that regulate and explain its meaning. Mystical practice, whose goal is to establish a connection with God and divine powers, is called religious mysticism.

In the modern world, people are accustomed to imply, under the word mysticism, all kinds of otherworldly powers, fortune telling, occultism, suggestive of fear and horror. As a rule, everything that a person can not give a reasonable interpretation is called mysticism.

Any religion denies mysticism. Moreover, mysticism also refutes the existence of God. However, if you think about it, the visions of prophets and saints, on which all religions are built, is nothing more than a manifestation of the mystical. Despite the age-old contradiction of religion and mysticism, most people, believing in God, do not exclude the existence of other unexplained forces.

Science and mysticism

A few centuries ago, our ancestors could not explain a lot of phenomena from the point of view of science and considered them mystical. They worshiped various elements and stars, believed in forest spirits, deified natural phenomena. But now scientists have found a scientific explanation for all the processes taking place in nature, and what was once a mystery to people is now natural and understandable.

It is possible that everything that today people call the word "mysticism" is in fact just an unexplored area of human knowledge. Probably, after a while, ghosts, poltergeists, healing and predictions will cease to inspire people with frigid horror. And the answer to the question of whether there is life after death will be as simple as, for example, why it rains.

Mysticism is in the philosophy of being a very broad concept, which you can call everything that does not lend itself to reasonable explanation. As soon as science to some extent explains the nature of the mysterious phenomenon, it immediately ceases to be mystical. Therefore, mysticism will exist in our lives only as long as the scientific knowledge of mankind does not reach a higher level.

Mysticism as a genre of cinema

Mysticism is a genre of modern cinema, combining all the films about supernatural and paranormal phenomena. Many people call this category horror films. Esoteric lovers like to tickle their nerves by watching horror films, so filmmakers shoot more and more new films in this genre.

To evoke a genuine sense of fear, mystical films are based on the hidden phobias of a person. People try to find in mystical films the answers to questions that concern them. The more a film is closer to reality, the stronger the feeling of anxiety and horror when viewing it.

Mystery and fantasy in the cinema

Films made in the genre of fiction, can also be attributed to the mystical. The characters of such films are often unknown fairy-tale creatures. They do not bring chilling fear to the audience. But, as you know, fairy tales are based on the stories of our distant ancestors who could somehow come into contact with such beings. In fantasy films, there is a share of the inexplicable, and therefore mystical.

To believe or not into the existence of the mystical is everyone's business. However, one who is able to discern in the everyday routine something mysterious and inexplicable, makes his life more interesting and brighter. Mysticism is something that allows us to approach something magical and expand the boundaries of our own consciousness.
