The revolt is a mass popular movement against the authorities, which, as a rule, is spontaneous and therefore does not lead to a change in the political regime or to any significant changes in the life of society. The experience of history shows that such uprisings were quickly suppressed, and their organizers and participants were faced with harsh reprisals. The main cause of these riots most often became some natural disaster (famine, crop failure). However, we can not ignore the socio-economic prerequisites of the discontent of the common people with the conditions of their existence. In that case, any slight pretext could lead to armed clashes with government protection.

Comparison with other forms of protest

The insurgency is one of the ways of expressing popular opinion, which is manifested in illegal actions, clashes and pogroms. Despite the repression, the government has always paid attention to these speeches as an important indicator of social discontent in the lower strata of society at all times.

Unlike the revolution, a mutiny is an unexpected, spontaneous movement, which, if it has at least some semblance of a program, does not have the capacity to implement it. In addition, it is less extensive and covers only certain segments of the population. It should also be distinguished from a riot, which is of a broader character. Participants of the latter are broad masses of the population, and, as a rule, it takes a broader scope.

The mutiny is a symptom of social problems in society. After its suppression, the authorities are making serious reforms to prevent further disgruntled statements.

The government was always more worried about these movements, that they were of a political nature and were directed against the existing system.
