It occupies a picturesque place on the coast of the Oka River and belongs to the Vladimir region, adjacent to the Nizhny Novgorod region. The distance to the regional center is 137 kilometers. The main reason why thousands of tourists come to the city of Murom are attractions, most of which are concentrated on the banks of the Oka.

One of the most attractive buildings is the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery, which is the oldest in Russia. According to legend, on the site of the monastery was once the prince's court, which was owned by Prince Gleb. In this yard there was a village Spassky church. When a monastery was built nearby, it was called "Spassky on the forest". For a long time he performed the defensive functions of Murom. Many times I was subjected to destruction and restoration. At the moment, there is a man's monastery, which occupies one of the first places in the list "Attractions of Murom". A little to the north of the monastery rises the refectory church of the Intercession of the Virgin, dated XVII century. In the old part of the city there are living rooms of the XIX century. It is from here that a superb view of the Trinity Monastery opens.

In the middle of the 17th century, the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity was built on the savings of the local merchant Tarasy Borisov. A little later he received permission from the patriarch to build a convent. As a result, the church of Our Lady of Kazan was built, and next to it a bell tower was built. The Kazan church is characterized by an extraordinary solution of the tent composition. And its proportions are so graceful that it gives the impression that the entire structure has been carved out of a single monolithic piece. The building is decorated with numerous arches. One of the most interesting parts of the structure is the porch, located above the stone tents on the west side of the building.

Considering the sights of Murom, it is impossible not to mention the Annunciation Monastery, founded in the middle of the XVI century. There is still a six-tiered iconostasis, which is made in the Baroque style. Here you can find ancient icons dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. The interior of the temple is designed in accordance with the style of the iconostasis.

At this Murom attractions do not end, but only begin. Among the most popular buildings can be identified the Church of the Ascension of the Lord, which currently has two chapels that join the facade of the main building. The structure has five heads and a high tent belfry. In the temple there are several ancient icons, silver salaries of which are decorated with precious stones.

The city of Murom, whose attractions can be listed endlessly, is famous not only for temples and monasteries. There are many other attractive architectural structures, such as a water tower. There is a legend about the construction of this structure. She tells that once, while inspecting the city, Alexei Vasilyevich met one woman who carried water in buckets on the rocker. She climbed a steep mountain and was very tired, as she told Ermakova. He felt sorry for this woman, and he ordered the construction of a water pipe in the city. So the water tower appeared.

However, the sights of Murom are not only architectural monuments and structures. A huge number of interesting museums have been opened here, among which one can not but mention the Cyber Museum, which appeared in 1995. The exposition of the museum is divided into several themes. In addition, stands are presented here, consisting of personal collections. It is recommended to visit the museum "Khlebnaya Gornitsa" and Murom Historical and Art Museum.
