Mud volcano Tamani Tizdar

In the Temryuk District (Krasnodar Territory), near the village of Za Rodina, in the tract Sinai Balka is the Azov Sopka. This is the famous mud volcano. He is called the Blue Balka or Tizdar. The second name is associated with the name of the mountain, located one kilometer from this place.

Mount Tizdar rises above sea level by 74 meters and is the beginning of the Golubicka ridge. Its volcanic origin is evidenced by the fact that at the edge of the water there are deposits of ancient blue clay. In 1919, the cone of Tizdar volcano collapsed (after an explosive eruption). Now the hill is a truncated cone.

Where are the mud volcanoes of Taman?

At the crossroads of Asia and Europe, where the Caucasian mountain range begins, there are about 30 mud volcanoes on the Taman land. This is one of the significant natural attractions of the Krasnodar Territory. On the map below, you can see that such volcanic formations are scattered all over the peninsula.

Title History

Why is a volcano more often called Tizdar, rather than the Azov Sopka? Scientists Pyatigorsk State University in 2011 took samples for the analysis of mud from the hills. Subsequently, a balneological report was published. In it, the deposit was called the Tizdarskoye deposit, since then it was fixed.

There are two translation options:

1. The title "Tizdar" clearly shows Turkic elements. "Tizgin" means "row", "line", "chain", and "dzhar" - "breakage" "ravine", "twisting". Apparently, the name of the oronym is connected with the intersection of this area.

2. In translation from the Turkish language, the name means "chief, superior".

Description of the volcano Tizdar

After a powerful eruption, which happened in 1919, it acquired an interesting form: its edges in the south are raised by 8 meters, and in the east they almost equaled the sea terrace. The mud volcano Taman Tizdar has a fairly large crater with a diameter of about twenty-five meters. And inside there is a lake filled with volcanic mud masses of gray-blue color. Its diameter is about 20 meters.

Every year comes about 2.5 cubic meters of healing mud. Its weight is 2.5 tons. Scientists suggest that the lake in depth reaches 25 meters, it is still impossible to name more exact figures.

Today, scientists call Tizdar an active volcano. He is considered the most studied on Taman. According to experts, the crater is regularly fed with curative mud coming through the central trunk from the bowels of the volcano. His maw falls to the Cimmerian rocks, which lie at a depth of 300 meters.

The specific gravity of the mud is quite high, so people can not drown here. The stout holds them firmly at the chest level. Dipping into the mud mass is not only useful, but also quite amusing. It is impossible to swim in it, it remains only to flounder in one place. There is a restriction of reception of such procedures - in a crater it is impossible to be more than 15 minutes.
