Mouse peas have thin stems that are attached to a number of located objects or plants with antennae, they can reach a length of up to 2.5 meters. Fruits mouse peas have in the form of beans, which reach a size of up to 3 cm in length and up to 0.5 cm in thickness. Seeds of dark color have a spherical shape.

The most common long-term peas in Asia, Europe and northern Africa, and he was brought to North America, where he acclimatized well. The main habitats are meadows and glades, also found on the fringes and among shrubs, in the mountains can grow at altitudes of up to 3000 meters above sea level.

If the soils are rich, the mouse peas develop very well and can even dominate the rest of the plants, and, conversely, develops poorly on poor soils and is often oppressed by neighboring plants. This plant is well tolerated by excess and lack of moisture, and can also safely withstand flooding for a long period of up to two months.

Mouse hyacinth can reproduce both in seed and vegetative ways. Flowering begins only on the 4-5th year of life, and with industrial breeding can occur on the 2-3rd year. Flowering occurs, beginning in May, continuing until the end of summer. Pollination is carried out by insects. Reproduction by seeds is not very productive, since a small amount of them is tied up, on the order of 5-15%, therefore, mainly reproduction takes place vegetatively, the main role played by a very developed rhizome.

Mouse peas are a good fodder plant, it is well eaten by almost all herbivores. It also has high nutritional qualities, since it contains about 30% protein, as well as a high content of vitamin C. After mowing, it joins together and quickly grows. Also this plant is an excellent honeycomb.

The chemical composition of this plant to date has not been fully studied and it is practically not used in scientific medicine. But some observations show that poultices made with the use of this plant are good at resolving and softening benign tumors. They also help in the treatment of swollen lymph nodes. Poultices from the grass of mouse peas are effective in the treatment of inflamed hemorrhoids and prolapse of the rectum. Infusions and decoctions of herbs are used during the treatment of viral hepatitis, and also used in ascites as a diuretic.

For the treatment of viral hepatitis, take 1 teaspoon dried roots of mouse peas and fill it with a glass of water, after which the mixture is brought to a boil, which is carried out for 5 minutes. It takes about 2 hours and takes a quarter cup three times a day.

When treating various edema and ascites, take 2 tablespoons of herbs and pour water in the amount of one glass, then boil for 5-6 minutes. Take the resulting broth from one to three times throughout the day.

When treating a cough or bleeding, 3 spoonfuls of dried mouse peas are poured into two glasses of water, after which it is insisted for about 2 hours. Take the received liquid three times a day for half a cup. Also, said infusion is used as an external agent that helps in wound healing.

Contraindications for the use of mouse peas are any violations of salt metabolism, as well as dehydration of the body, which can occur due to diarrhea or dysentery. Also, drugs containing this plant are contraindicated in obesity and atherosclerosis.
