What to do when the orchids in pots have become faded?

They gave us an orchid - and a new concern arose. Beautiful phalaenopsis blossoms for three months with luxurious cream flowers. It seems that everything goes as it should: stands in a bright place, but not under direct sunlight, watering once a week by immersion in warm water. Kind people taught how to take care of these very whimsical flowers. But what to do, when the orchids faded, did not have time to say. So, you need to understand yourself.

Wilting begins

The flowers fell, the leaves wilted and wrinkled. A heart-breaking sight, as the donkey Eey would say, especially if one considers how long it takes to wait for a second flowering. What to do when the orchids fade? During this period, we need to look very carefully at the flower. Our further actions depend on his condition. If the flower bud withers, you can not cut it yet - the plant will take the leftovers from it. And when it is completely dry, you need to remove it and leave a penishek two and a half centimeters high. If the flower bud does not dry, but continues to grow - it is undesirable for an orchid, it is better to trim the faded stem above the sleeping kidney. It is likely that soon the plant will give a new germ and even bloom repeatedly. Especially generous with such surprises phalaenopsis (the same one that is on our windowsill!). So, there is still hope.

Care after pruning of the peduncle

So, the phalaenopsis orchid has faded. What to do with this beautiful woman - we study further. Clearly, leaving can not be stopped now. Similarly, the flower will need watering and feeding if we want to wait for a new flowering. In general, the ways of further care are different. If the flowers have fallen away, and the leaves are still fresh and healthy, you can cut the stem directly above them - perhaps in this place phalaenopsis will give a new sprout and buds. But this will slow down its further development.

If necessary, the plant can be transplanted. Here the information is contradictory. Some say that an orchid can be planted only in a plastic pot, in ceramic, the roots are tightly embedded in the walls, and then try to remove them without damage. Other experts say the opposite: a plastic pot is one of the reasons for the rare flowering of orchids. Hence, it will be necessary to refine the trial.

In order to remove the roots from the pot without pain, the soil should be shed abundantly, and only then remove the lump. Do not try to untwine roots - they easily break. The dried and blackened parts of the roots are neatly removed.

Transplantation occurs in a light substrate, which is sold specifically for orchids. What to do when the orchids in a small pot are faded ? To transplant in more spacious? There is no need: this flower needs just as much space to accommodate its roots.

Is spring coming soon?

Spring is a relative term. The orchid is off-season. After the orchid has blossomed, it remains for us to love and cherish it as before. And wait for a new flowering. When is another question, to which each plant has its own answer. It all depends on the variety of orchids, on the characteristics of care during and after flowering, from successful or incorrect pruning, from the place where the pot is standing, from temperature, from light ... In short, everything should converge. And the time to a new flowering can take two to three months, or maybe a year. AND What to do when the orchids faded and ceased to be an ornament of our house? Be patient and wait. What the author of these lines is going to do.
