Mount Roraima - the lost world of ancient civilizations

On the border of just three states is the huge mountain of Roraima (Venezuela, Guyana, Brazil). This miracle of nature is the highest point of the Guiana Highlands, the height of the peak is 2810 m. Roraima is a type of table mountains, or tepui, which means "House of the Gods" in the Indian language. The uniqueness of this place lies in its isolation from the surrounding world. Here, for centuries and millennia, a unique flora and fauna has formed, so on the mountain you can see a lot of inhabitants who are no longer in any corner of the planet.

Mount Roraima has a flat top with an area of about 34 km 2 . It was formed due to the destruction of the plateau, which occurred billions of years ago, so these peaks are considered the oldest on earth. Most tourists come to the mountains to enjoy skiing, but to Venezuela they go completely behind other impressions. With tepui it is impossible to descend, because they represent an ideal sandy-stony surface with cliffy rocks.

For a long time, Mount Roraima did not obey climbers, even the most skilled could not climb up the steep rocks. For the first time the human foot set foot on the summit in 1884. Then researchers discovered a ledge from Venezuela, only it can climb up. The scientists were surprised at what they saw: the plateau seemed like a huge cold island, lost among the shrouds and rainforests, located at the foot, but a huge number of endemic plants and unusual animals were found on top. Some representatives of the flora were carnivorous. Also, waterfalls falling from Roraima rocks were found, they flow into Orinoco, Amazon and Essequibo.

Here everything seems unusual, primitive, this is not surprising, because for many millions of years on the plateau did not step the human foot. Mount Roraima looks not only majestically, but also mystically, this perception is largely promoted by a cloud of fog, which is constantly enveloping the landscape. The local nature became the source of inspiration for the famous writer Arthur Conan Doyle, because after participating in the expedition to the top of Roraima he wrote the book "The Lost World" - about the plateau on which dinosaurs dwell.

Mount Roraima is known for a favorable climate, contributing to the growth of unique vegetation. Tourists are always surprised when on their way they meet whole plantations of unfamiliar plants, so such trips are interesting for nature lovers. Even without climbing to the top, near the foot of the plateau, you can see many interesting things and admire the delightful scenery. Among the travelers there are rumors that you can find real gold nuggets in the local rivers.

Today, among the lovers of outdoor activities, Roraima Mountain is also very popular. Pictures of landscapes are fascinating and do not leave indifferent, so it's worth visiting here once and want to come again and again. It is not necessary to climb the very top of the plateau to get a charge of vivacity and positive emotions. Even sightseeing, concentrated at the foot of the mountain, will bring a lot of impressions.
