Work on the project of a new educational and entertainment complex in Moscow began in 1972 and lasted 10 years. It was so much time that the architects Ya. Belopolsky, M. Posokhin, M. Belen and V. Havin needed to calculate the future of a large-scale construction in the smallest details. The complexity of the future construction was that the building is immediately above the metro station. Wrong calculations could have caused a terrible accident.

Since 1982, active construction work has been carried out. And already in 1988 the Moscow Palace of Youth welcomed the first guests who immediately appreciated its role in the development of youth.

Since the center was planned as an educational and entertainment center, it designed large and small concert halls, rooms for various circles of interest. For a long time MDM coped with this function. And today the youth do not mind spending a few hours in this center.

Grand Concert Hall

The main attraction of MDM is a large concert hall. It is made in the form of an amphitheater, which helped to avoid blind areas and poor audibility. Until 2014, its capacity was almost 1600 people, which is already impressive. In the summer of 2014, a global preparation for the first Russian-language production of the musical "The Phantom of the Opera" was held. Within its framework, a global reconstruction of the hall and the stage was carried out. From that moment it began to accommodate 1850 people. Two VIP-lodges for 20 and 39 visitors were also improved.

The equipment was not left without attention. In the process of reconstruction, it was also replaced with the most modern and powerful, as far as the hall itself allows. From this moment the Moscow Palace of Youth has become one of the most modern concert venues in the city. He can take any staging of famous artists and show programs.

Other halls and places of rest

In addition to a large concert hall, there are many more places that attract the Moscow Palace of Youth. Under these objects, numerous rooms were adapted, originally intended for holding various circles.

After the revival of the television program in 1986, she needed a permanent playground. Already in 1988, this appeared in the capital. Well, where else can you hold youth competitions, how not in MDM? Until 2002, all Moscow broadcasts were shot on this stage. Here such artists as Valdis Pelsh, Sergey Sivokho, Tatyana Lazareva, stars "Kamedi Club" and many other well-known personalities have seen the light.

The beginning of the era of musicals

In history, the year 2002 became a landmark, which slightly changed the focus of the activities that the Moscow Youth Palace is leading. The musicals took one of the main places in it. It is this year that MDM becomes a rental platform for two known stationary productions: first, "42nd Street", and then "12 chairs".

The international theatrical company "Stajt Intertejment" in 2005 has concluded the contract on display of the statements on the main stage of MDM.

Muscovites have since been able to visit such musicals as "Cats", "Sounds of Music", "Mama mia!", "ZORRO", "Beauty and the Beast", "Chicago". This is a significant event for the cultural life of the capital, because now there is a permanent place where you can see a really high-quality and exciting musical, and even in Russian.

In 2013, it was announced that preparations for the most cash musical in Broadway's history had been announced, "The Phantom of the Opera," a full translation of which was not yet available.

There are admirers of his work in Russia, but for a long time they could enjoy the works of the maestro only in the original language. Translation into Russian is not so much.

In 2013, it became known that the "Phantom of the Opera" will move to the Moscow Palace of Youth. Tickets for this musical began to be sold in March 2014, although the premiere was scheduled for November 4 of the same year.

In honor of such a significant production, the company "Stage Interior" carried out a large-scale reconstruction of MDM, especially the foyer and the large hall. The process of preparing for the performances lasted more than a year. He spent more than 200 million rubles.

Despite the fact that in the 2014/2015 season the musical goes 8 times a week, the hall is sold out every day. It is noteworthy that the translation and the production itself are made really at a high level. At the premiere of the play the granddaughter of the author of this masterpiece was present, which indicates the significance of this event on a world scale.

How to get to MDM?

Where is the Moscow Palace of Youth? The address of MDM is known to everyone - Komsomolsky Avenue, house 28. It is immediately above the metro station "Frunzenskaya".

Even during the construction of the palace, the ground vestibule of the station was integrated with this building. The way out of it is aimed at Komsomolsky Prospekt and Holesunov Lane.

For those who arrive by car, near MDM there is a large open parking, where you can leave your car.
