Morphological analysis of the adjective

Morphological analysis of the name of the adjective is a complete grammatical characteristic of it as part of speech. The analysis is carried out only those adjectives that are presented in a specific sentence, because It is impossible to correctly analyze a word outside the context.

To perform a morphological analysis of the adjective, you need to know:

• what morphological signs have the name of the adjective ;

• which of them are permanent, unchanging, and characteristic of all adjective names in general;

• which of the characteristics are non-permanent, variable and characteristic for a given form of the word;

• In what syntactic role can the proposal appear.

It is necessary to be able to:

• name the initial form of the adjective;

• determine the permanent features that are characteristic of this part of speech;

• Highlight modifiable characteristics;

• determine the syntactic role of the adjective in the sentence.

Correctly perform the morphological analysis of the adjective will help the scheme of its analysis as part of speech:

1. To name the part of the speech to which the word proposed for parsing belongs, indicate the grammatical meaning and question to which the word answers.

2. Put the adjective into the initial form.

3. To name morphological signs:

Constants: determine the discharge by value.

Unstable:

- for qualitative adjectives:

A) determine the degree of comparison;

B) to what form it refers (full or short).

- for all adjectives, define:

- case;

- number;

- genus.

4. Specify the syntactic role of the adjective in the sentence.

Remember!

Performing a morphological analysis of the adjective, it is written out of the sentence, without changing. If it acts as a definition for a noun with a preposition (in a big house), the preposition is not written out, because it does not refer to the adjective.

We also need to remember that the adjective has a compound form (the most bright) and, performing the morphological analysis of the adjective in this form, it is written out completely.

A constant sign of the name of the adjective is its rank by its value (relative, qualitative or possessive). Qualitative sometimes do not have a degree of comparison or a short form. In this case, completeness (brevity) refers to permanent features.

Adept adjectives do not have non-permanent attributes.

To such signs of the adjective include the case, number and gender (defined in the singular). Qualitative adjectives characterize such non-permanent features as completeness (brevity) and degree of comparison (comparative and excellent).

Also do not forget that the impermanent sign of case has adjectives only of full form. Carrying out the morphological analysis of the short adjective, we indicate only the constant signs.

A sample of written analysis

Invisible life is filled with a winter forest.

Invisible (life) - adj.

1. Life (what?) Invisible. N. f. - invisible.

2. Constant: relative. Non-permanent: full. Form, t.p., singular, r.p.

3. (Which?) Invisible.

Winter (forest) - adj.

1. The forest (what?) Is winter. N. f. - Winter.

2. Constant: relative. Non-permanent: full. Form, I. p., Ed. Hours, m.

3. (Which?) Winter.
