In the same year, Mikhail Mamiashvili participated in the World Wrestling Championship, which was held in Kiev. He was the youngest of all participants in the competition. The judges recognized Mikhail as the most technical wrestler of the championship and gave him the first and well deserved place.

Participation in the Olympic Games

1988 was marked by the holding of the Olympic Games in Seoul. Mikhail Mamiashvili participated in competitions and fought in the weight category up to 82 kg. He spent five laps and lost only one. Personal life

In 2001, Mikhail Mamiashvili became vice-president of the Russian Olympic Committee. The family of the former strongest fighter consists of a wife, three daughters and a son. The average daughter of Michael named Tatiana married the son of Fyodor Bondarchuk - Sergei. The couple already had children: two daughters, Margarita and Vera. Mikhail Mamiashvili was very happy about the birth of his long-awaited granddaughters. Now he is not only a respected sportsman and coach, but also a loving grandfather. He tries to spend more time with his family and instill in his little granddaughters a love of sport from childhood.
