Mezapam preparation, instructions for use
The medicine "Mezapam", the instruction indicates, is released in the form of tablets, each containing 10 mg of the active substance of medazepam. The drug belongs to the clinical and pharmaceutical group of tranquilizers.
The substance of medazepam is derived from benzodiazepine. It is characterized by anxiolytic, myorelaxing and antiepileptic action. Additionally has a mildly expressed timoleptic effect. This tranquilizer is recommended for taking in the daytime. Because the sedative and hypnotic effect that the drug has on the body is much less pronounced than other benzodiazepine derivatives.
Medication "Mezapam", the instruction indicates, normalizes the functions of the visceral nervous system, restores the emotional sphere, removes from the state of unmotivated anxiety, fear, psychoneurotic tension.

The drug is prescribed:
- With neuroses;

- At a chronic alcoholism, at an abstinent syndrome;
- For children with neuroses, mental lability and excessive excitability.
Dosage of the preparation "Mezapam"
The doctor prescribes the dose of the drug depending on the diagnosis, condition and age of the patient.
The minimum single dose of the active substance of the drug is 5 mg.
The maximum dose of the active substance of the drug per day in outpatient settings is 40 mg.
The established dose is divided into several receptions.
In the conditions of inpatient treatment under the supervision of a doctor, the maximum daily dose in individual cases is increased to 60 mg.
Mezapam: a description of the side effect
Disturbances in the work of the nervous system are manifested by drowsiness, fatigue, general weakness, headache, which stops with a decrease in dose. Sometimes there are: stunning syndrome, confusion, dizziness, depression, anterograde amnesia, dysarthria, signs of accommodation paresis. Older patients and children are more susceptible to side effects of the drug. Violation of coordination of movements was observed in patients of advanced age and in persons with mental retardation.
Disorders in the functioning of the endocrine system are manifested by a decrease in sexual desire, a change in the menstrual cycle.
Deviations in the work of the respiratory system are manifested by depression of the function of the respiratory center; Alveolar hypoventilation is associated with patients with COPD who use the drug in high doses.
The drug "Mezapam", the instruction indicates, can cause irregularities in the cardiovascular system, which are manifested by tachycardia, a decrease in pressure.
Deviations in the digestive system are manifested by dry mouth, dyspepsia.
Other disorders in the body manifest urinary retention, spasm of vocal cords, pain in the chest, withdrawal syndrome, paradoxical reactions, dependence, allergic manifestations.
Contraindications
It is impossible in some cases to prescribe the drug "Mezapam". The instruction contains a list of the following conditions in which the given therapeutic agent is contraindicated for patients:
- With myasthenia gravis;
- With liver diseases in acute form;
- With kidney disease in acute form;
- At night apnea ;
- In the first trimester of pregnancy;
- With lactation;
- For children under 10 years of age;
- With increased sensitivity to the drug.
Particular caution should be exercised when prescribing medazepam to patients with alcohol dependence, because this substance enhances the effect of ethanol.
