The drug "Pirantel" is a medical preparation of anthelmintic (anthelminthic) action. The main principle of its action is the defeat of the muscles of parasites, blocking their motor abilities and, thus, ensuring the removal of helminths naturally from the gastrointestinal tract. The greatest effect can be obtained from the drug, if it is used in the early stages of development of parasites.

The drug is available in the form of suspension and tablets. Suspensions are mainly used to treat children.

The medicine "Pirantel" (tablets) is prescribed for the following diseases:

• Ascaridosis - arises from the activity of intestinal parasitic worms in the human body - ascaris;
• Enterobiosis - due to the activity of pinworms;
• Ankylostomidosis - arises from the presence of parasitizing nematode worms in the body and leads to a sharp decrease in the number of red blood cells in the blood;
• Non-corpuscle.

It is used inside once a day during breakfast or immediately after it. Tablets are preferably pre-chew for fastest digestion by the body and drink with a small amount of water.

Doses. For treatment of enterobiasis and ascariasis, the drug is taken once in a ratio of 10 mg per kilogram of the patient's weight; Children aged 12 years and adults - at least three tablets (750 mg). If you exceed the body weight of 75 kg, you must drink at least four tablets at a time.

Children between the ages of six months to two years can take half a tablet (125 mg) of the drug, two to six years - one whole tablet (250 mg). At the age of 6 to 12 years - two tablets (500 mg) are taken.

With such helminthiasis as non-katorosis and ankylostomiasis, as well as with combined invasions (simultaneous damage of two or more kinds of parasites), the preparation "Pirantel" (tablets) instructs to take in another dosage. In this case, the drug should be taken at a rate of 10 mg per kilogram of the patient's weight for three days, or 20 mg per kilogram of weight for two days. With ascariasis, a single dose of 5 mg per kilogram of patient weight is possible.

When enterobiosis (pinworms) in order to avoid re-infection, experts recommend to repeat the course of taking the drug three to four weeks after the first treatment session.
